As much as I would prefer a PDF/paperback version, the formatting holds up well for Kindle with the pictures and everything displayed neatly. Really really glad that it has been brought back in SOME format, and I hope that this version is successful enough to justify a real re-run!

By DeeGee Thomas Carver is an auto-buy for me - he always delivers a good story with an intriguing premise, engaging characters, and hot rough straight boys happy to explore their mean streaks with unwitting (or witting) subs. He ventures a bit afield here with an MC whose fervent Christian beliefs stand in the way of sexual adventures in college... And I must confess it's one of his less believable characterizations. But I give him credit for exploring new settings and keeping it interesting - there's still a lot to like in the latest outing, and Carver's worst effort is still a 5-star erotic read for me.

Williams An interesting story set in the college years for a gay man going through his own "50 Shades of Grey." The college student comes from a conservative Christian background and his roommate (from Hell) opens the door for him to experience his gayness and preference for being a submissive which he did not recognize before he went to school. The interesting part of the story is how this conservative Christian college student comes to accept his gayness and submissive nature.

When I saw this book, Instant Happy Journal by Karen Salmansohn, as one of the options for my monthly reviews on Blogging for Books I decided to order it. I figured that when using this over the year, I would be able to mindfully add happiness to my life. Who couldn't use more happy in their life?This journal has daily happiness prompters to encourage you to reflect on those things in your day or life that bring joy, love, and happiness. I think we all get busy in the day to day life and sometimes forget to think about those things. These daily prompts help you focus on the positive, and that can change your whole outlook on life and benefit you in many ways.Karen says her mission in putting this journal together is: "To help you live your happiest life." (pg 1) She also says, "...you will train your brain to focus on where the most inspiration, gratitude and joy are to be found." (pg 2)I think that changing our focus to the happy aspects of life and ourselves is something that can benefit every one of us. We will have more joy in our life and want to share that joy with others.It's not hard to take 5 minutes each day to think of and write about the daily prompts. A few of my favorite have been: "Every time you thought you couldn't keep moving forward, you did. Appreciate Your Strength", "Prioritize your life around kind, passionate people. Name-drop a few and why you adore them", and "The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow".I would recommend this journal to people who are searching for more joy in daily life, or people who need to change their outlook from negative to positive. I think that these daily happiness prompters could benefit just about everyone!

When I saw this pretty little thing on Blogging for Books, I couldn’t resist. It’s so small and happy looking, how could I go wrong?Overall rating: ★★★1/2Originality: ★★★★The nicest part of this journal is that it has prompts. Many journals lay abandoned on my bookshelves, victims of writer’s block. Some days are just not interesting enough to write about! Then you start to feel guilty about not journaling, then you keep procrastinating, then you look at the journal and it’s been too long since you wrote in it and you have to give up.The Instant Happy Journal has 365 pages for journaling, but they’re NOT PRE-DATED. You get to write in the date yourself. Which means, if you miss journaling on March 3rd, you don’t have to wait until March 3rd of the following year to finish that page- just pick it up where you left off.The graphics on the journal pages are fun without being overwhelming. I can see myself running out of room for writing on a few of the pages, but most of them look big enough. There are many interesting prompts- “Make a prediction in this journal about something you believe is about to happen. Fold over the corner of the page so you can be reminded to check later whether it came true!” “What made you feel afraid today? What can you say to yourself to increase your moxie and bravura?” “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”This is a great little journal for people who just need a reminder to reflect a bit during the day. It’s not too much work and is SO adorable.

You can feel that truth and up-front honesty in every word she writes.And that is what Karen teaches us -- how to be real, how to find real, how to choose real, and how to stay the heck away from any and everything that is not real, 'coz all-that-is-not-real only leads to heartache, lost time, and pain.You'd think this would be something we'd all have learned as kids -- how to find what's real -- but actually, what we've learned is how to buy bulls***. And it's that acceptance of all-that-is-insincere that's had us doubting even ourselves to the point of second-guessing every choice we make. And in fact, it's that uncertainty about what is real and who is sincere that's had a lot of us making choices that have, frankly, screwed up portions of our lives, like our love life, our self-image, and even our relationship to simple things like food.Well, Karen's not havin' that. She's not havin' it in romance, at work, in friendships and at core: she's not havin' it with the most important thing of all -- our relationship with ourselves.You will immediately see this insistence on facts-up honesty in everything Karen writes and teaches. It is written about friends in England, and very much a lemon ofa book. I could not finish it. There must be another author out there with the same name, because this was no cosy, and not adrop of mystery. It was very juvenile writing.

I absolutely love the way Felicia builds on her characters and makes you care about what will happen to them! She keeps you wondering what will happen next and who you should trust! This book (as well as all of hers) is well written and drags you in! I picked the book up and couldn't put it down until I was done!!Graven is dark, handsome, and totally lovable. He is a protector by nature and refuses to let anything bad happen to Kasha! I love Kasha's character, as she isn't dingy making dumb choices like some books I have read. She is so strong and brave in the face of the unknown.I can't wait until the next book and I will suffer until it is out! lol

By Leigha Perlewitz Have you ever read a series that has just climbed into your heart and soul, and will stay there forever? This series is exactly that for me. A while back, I decided to give Taken, the first book in the series, a try and I fell head over heels. This series is magical, enticing, sexy, and mysterious. This is one of those books that completely took my breath away and I devoured it in one sitting. Felicia Starr has an incredible talent with words and I can't wait for the world to discover her. Many of the best things in life are little kept secrets like her.In this second installment in the Breaking the Darkness series, Kasha is given unexpected freedom with the sexy, mysterious, delicious Graven (he is my new book boyfriend. HE IS YUMMY). We also meet some new characters that gives this story a more dynamic storyline. I loved taking this adventure with Kasha and meeting new characters and having some (not nearly all) my questions answered. One thing I love about this book is Kasha's spirituality and willingness to accept the things that are happening around her. She is living in a new, unknown world, with only Graven to guide and teach her (in more ways than one, if you get my drift hehehehe...). I love the relationship that develops between Kasha and Graven, and Kaden is just a bag full of tricks and mysteries. I want to hate him, but I can't discount him yet. I know there are many secrets that are just waiting to be uncovered about him and I can't forget about Kasha's dreams with him in Taken.If you are looking for a fun, sexy, new adventure, this is the series for you. This is a multifaceted adventure and is completely unique. It is very rare in this world that you read something unlike anything you have ever read before, but this series does it. This book is a rare gem among dull stones and you will not be sorry for reading it.

I was hoping to get all the answers to my many questions and to see where things would lead after the ending of the first book, but this story didn’t quite develop the way I was expecting.It was more about Kasha and Graven’s relationship, not that I’m complaining because I enjoyed seeing them together, but I was expecting more from the Uni paranormal aspect because I still felt the details of this were a little vague.When Nate appeared on the scene things seemed to be coming together and after everything I’d learned in Marked the level of deception became quite clear. When the truth about his ability/powers came to the forefront it was obvious what role he’d played within this series and I couldn’t wait to see him get what was coming to him.I would love to continue this series to see what more lies in store for Kasha and the rest of the characters.

Vince comes back into her life at a very trying time. She comes home late one night and tries not to wake up her grandmother up, she quietly goes to bed. The next morning she finds her grandmother dead. Vince is now a detective and Kate is convinced her grandmother was murdered. This is a very good read, it has a lot of good suspects for a murder,but Vince is not convinced that it is murder. Both Vince and Kate have a hard time with commitments, they have trust issues too. Read it you will like the story.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Don't Go By Robin Michelle Garret and Jades final story made me cry. I love them together, they are both selfless and self-sacrificing for the other. They show you that love doesn't have an age requirement on it and you can make anything work if you really want too. I'm sad to say this but glad to say, I'm happy Holton is dead. He really angered me during this book with his plan for Garret. I never liked Katherine. Sean and Harper finally were able to get their happily ever after at the cost of Keifer losing his family. However, that's his fault being money and power hungry is stupid especially if you're already successful. Pearce has showed tremendous growth from the first book. He is more caring and loving and that's all that matters. Garrett is finally able to enjoy his married life with his true love and although it's hard, Im glad that he has proved to be great for Jade. They make each other whole. Jade has proven to have came out of her life time shell and that is a huge improvement for her. I wish their series didn't end but all good things must come to an end.

But he knows he is a far, far different man now. His mind refuses to leave behind the battles of war on the fields of war, but continues to play out scene after scene in his mind. He can find no relief from his memories, of the things he had to do on the battlefield. Xavier is lost or even trapped within his mind, reliving the war and feels the need to hide himself away from everyone he knows or cares about. He cannot find peace, and perhaps even worse doesn’t believe he deserves peace or a happy life now that he has returned home.Jane Downing says outrageous things and has resigned herself to being on the shelf and a spinster at 24. She has been invisible to most people the majority of her life. Oh, she has some close friends but to most she has made such an impression (not) – that she tends to have to reintroduce herself constantly.While Jane may have resigned herself to never finding love or marriage – she will not give up on finding passion. And that is where Xavier comes into her plan. He is handsome, sexy, barely knows that she exists and while he has changed since returning from the war – he is afterall, a man, so how could he possibly refuse to take her to his bed. Wrong!Jane Downing is learned, independent, but has resigned herself to being invisible and remaining a spinster. She would not settle for just anyone, if she were given the choice, besides no one ever asks anything from her anyway. On the other hand, Captain Xavier Grey would rather not be seen; a war hero, everybody notices him. He never fully recovered from what he had to do during the war, and only wishes to forget; if only he could disappear. Jane wants to be remembered, to be loved, if only for one night, she wants to experience the pleasures of the flesh at least once and she has chosen Xavier to be the one. When she learns he is soon leaving for his cottage in Essex, she takes off with her brother’s cat, and intends to seduce Xavier. Jane is also very perceptive, and as their conversations go from playful and seductive on Jane’s side, to sombre and gloomy from Xavier’s, they eventually learn a lot about each other, but most of all about themselves, and their attitudes begin to change.THE CAPTAIN’S BLUESTOCKING MISTRESS is quite different from the usual trope about people being stuck together during a snowstorm. The story is original, fresh, and Ms. Ridley’s prose is at the same time elegant and lively, and the dialogues are the best she’s ever written. I was actually sorry to see this novel end.Jane is a bluestocking and a wallflower. At twenty-four, she sees herself as a spinster whose only friends are her books, because nobody notices her. Xavier is a captain, recently returned from the army, who doesn't feel like he belongs in society anymore. When Jane pursues a dalliance with him, acting on a crush on him that began before he left for battle and thinking it might be her only chance ever for romance, both of them find more than they were looking for.In retrospect, having just finished the book, it would have been nice to see more of the other characters who have been mentioned in the previous two. In the context of the plot, though, I think it worked well to focus on just the two main characters; it didn't feel out of place as I was reading. Jane was lovable and relatable, and I really enjoyed the time I spent reading about her.I received a free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Weak Installment By London Fog In what I am dismayed to admit was the weakest entry in this series, The Mourning Bells is based around what ought to have been a much more dramatic premise - that is, an epidemic of "corpses" are suddenly reanimating while in transit to the cemetery on the London Necropolis railway line. Yet missed opportunities for tension abound, and are most often bludgeoned to death by a mountain of exposition that completely derails the story. Where the details surrounding violet's trade enlivened past installments, here it had only the distinct feel of an "info dump". And a very tedious one, at that.Violet herself suffered in this latest effort. Her wits seemed far less keen than usual, as clues and warning bells, so to speak, that appeared so unbelievably obvious, flew right over her head. She frequently missed connections that should have been easily made, and more importantly, failed to raise obvious questions of suspicion far beyond her minor doubts. Instead of working the mystery out in increments, the reader is pretty well aware of what is going on, while Violet lags behind. The entire plot lost credulity because of it, and while by no means a poor book, it was definitely a very weak installment.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Mourning Bells Are Ringing! By prairie woman Violet Harper is as busy as ever in her profession as an undertaker. Her role has expanded to accompanying caskets to the new Brookwood cemetery outside of London. The coffins are transported on the London Necropolis Railway----a fitting name for a train that carries the departed! Violet and other undertakers accompany the coffins to the chapel and then on to the grave site, comforting mourners who arrive later. She is startled to hear a bell ringing from one of the caskets and indeed the man inside is alive! But before she can question him, he is off and running! No harm done though and most of the people involved are happy that indeed this person was alive and well. But why did this happen? How could an undertaker not take care to be certain someone is truly lifeless? And which cabinet maker is supplying these bell ringing coffins? Violet heartily disapproves of this kind of gimmickry that funeral directors ply on their customers, and when she hears bells again on another journey----she definitely suspects there is something amiss!A young woman is spotted on the railway platform as the coffins arrive. She pries one open and becomes hysterical when she views the body of her fiancé. And before long there are more deaths. Are they related to the Necropolis Railway? What happened to the men who rang the bells and escaped their coffin? Why is the young man not buried in his family's plot?Violet is determined to get to the bottom of these mysterious findings. In doing so she puts herself in danger once again. Luckily she does have some connections with the local police. Her adopted daughter and husband also become part of her team. There are other issues during this time that are brought into this story. It is 1869 and the Debtors Act has been passed which consolidated the bankruptcy laws in England. Before then, people could be thrown in debtor's prison. Nevertheless, for the upper classes credit and having debts was a way of life and accepted by most people. However, there were consequences for those that went too far----a disgrace to the family name, being exiled from society in general, or worse!

About the Author E.H. Reinhard was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He's worked in sales in one form or another for the better part of eighteen years. Previous nine-to-fives include retail management, the auto industry, operating a small business, and running an assortment of entertainment websites that generated tens of millions of page views per month. Reinhard currently has one completed thriller series, the Lieutenant Kane Series, which follows the life on and off duty of a fictional Tampa homicide lieutenant--though if the stories were reality, I think anyone who worked law enforcement and encountered what Kane did would be turning in their resignation. Throughout the story arc of the six-book series, you see Lieutenant Kane go toe-to-toe with some of the most twisted, homicidal, and downright ruthless adversaries imaginable, all while doing his best to juggle his often-turbulent personal life. Reinhard's current work in progress is the Hank Rawlings Series. Hank is pulled from the Lieutenant Kane Series and dropped in a new city and new position--agent in the FBI's serial crimes homicide division. Hank's new job description is simple: track down serial killers and bring them to justice. Hank's work will find him face to face with the most dangerous and demented people to ever walk the earth. My sole qualm was the amount of verbiage devoted to minute detail; what he/she wore, color of hair, etc. It took awhile for the author to get down to the point of grabbing your attention like he so aptly did in the Lt. Kane series. I have high hopes for the next book!

13 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Rookie FBI Agent Hank Rawlings gets first case. By Jim McCarthy Jr. "Drained" is the first of two books in author E. H. Reinhard's Hank Rawlings series. Rawlings is a break out character from the author's Carl Kane series set in Tampa. Hank has just Left Florida for Virginia to further his career working for the FBI. Hank's wife also works for the DEA. So move to Virginia area is good for both. Meanwhile, in Chicago a second female body turns up in a dumpster completely drained of blood. The FBI fears that a long dormant serial killer has returned. This serial killer had been dormant for eight long years. The two dead women killed like this alert FBI Supervisory Special Agent Art Ball who assigns Hank his first case. Partnered with veteran FBI agent Beth Harper the hunt in on for this killer. Harper is from the Chicago area so she's very familiar with the area. It had been eight years since last striking when he'd killed three women this same way. With this newest body he's now murdered two since returning. Hank and Beth are alarmed that both murdered women had used an on line dating service recently. "Classified-OD" run by Brett Bailor is the dating serviced used. Bailor is a shifty character. He's very wealthy, however is always behind on alimony and child support payments. His ex-wife continually must have her lawyer involved for payments. Bailor has very expensive tastes for his lifestyle. Along with local Chicago agent Andrews the team never seems to get any answers out of Bailor. Bailor routinely leave his company for the day and just disappears. Rookie Rawlings and Harper make a pretty good team despite the large gap in their ages. A very quick reading story, this one had some good intrigue as well. The characters were well developed and were provided with hard hitting dialog. This is the first book I've read by author E. H. Reinhard. It was such an enjoyable read I've already started the first book in his Carl Kane series. Easily five stars out of a possible five stars for "Drained". Check this one out. It's a good story.

Cuno Massey is one of my favorites of Mr. Brandvold's very diverse characters. It's been a while since we had an adventure with Cuno and it was a very welcome and entertaining read. A good story with a few surprises along the way. Mean Pete never disappoints.

Brandvold wastes no time in putting up the towheaded young firebrand Massey in danger from the first sentence of this novel. Set in Arizona of the Old West, Massey has his guard down while camping one night when a group of hardcases get the drop on him and his normally alert stallion, Renegade. But Massey is in for bigger surprises as he fights for his life, amid many individuals with an axe to grind about whom they think he is. Brandvold unleases a few explicit over-the-top, and very unnecessary sexual encounters along the way, with the usual amount of blood, gore, shootouts, treachery, and some unusual situations. A far cry from the more staid but adventurous ”.45 Caliber Widow Maker". Very Definitely Recommended for western fans who like some intense sensuality also in play. Four INTENSE Stars. From Library Journal Siddhartha's life takes him on a journey toward enlightenment. Afire with youthful idealism, the Brahmin joins a group of ascetics, fasting and living without possessions. Meeting Gotama the Buddha, he comes to feel this is not the right path, though he also declines joining the Buddha's followers. He reenters the world, hoping to learn of his own nature, but instead slips gradually into hedonism and materialism. Surfeited and disgusted, he flees from his possessions to become a ferryman's apprentice, learning what lessons he can from the river itself. Herman Hesse's 1922 Bildungsroman parallels the life of Buddha and seems to argue that lessons of this sort cannot be taught but come from one's own struggle to find truth. The book, Hesse's ninth novel, was written in German, in a simple yet powerful and lyrical style. It was published in the U.S. in 1951 and became influential during the 1960s. Hesse dedicated Siddhartha to Ninon Hesse, his wife. The word Siddhartha is made up of two words in the Sanskrit language, siddha (achieved) + artha (meaning or wealth). The two words together mean "he who has found meaning (of existence)" or "he who has attained his goals".The Buddha's name, before his renunciation, was Prince Siddhartha Gautama. Hartmann Beautifully translated, evoking the majesty in the simple story of a man in his lifelong journey towards the attainment of Enlightenment. Melodic in its tone but true to the original German Susan Bernofsky's translation has set a new standard among the various English translations currently available. As many times as I have read and enjoyed Siddhartha over the years (about 10 or so readings) never have I enjoyed a translation as much as Ms. Bernofsky's - a truly remarkable effort.

A Mystical Look at a Universal Problem By A Customer Set in India, Siddhartha is subtitled an "Indic Poetic Work" and clearly it does owe much to both Buddhism and Hinduism, however the philosophy embodied in Siddhartha is both unique and quite complex, despite the lyrically beautiful simplicity of the plot.Siddhartha is one of the names of the historical Gautama and while the life of Hesse's character resembles that of his historical counterpart to some extent, Siddhartha is by no means a fictional life of Buddha and his teachings.Siddhartha is divided into two parts of four and eight chapters, something some have interpreted as an illustration of Buddhism's Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path to Enlightenment.Elements of Hinduism can also be found in Siddhartha. Some critics maintain that Hesse was influenced largely by the Bhagavad Gita when he wrote the book and that his protagonist was groping his way along a path outlined in that text. Certainly the central problems of Siddhartha and the Gita are similar: how can the protagonist attain a state of happiness and serenity by means of a long and arduous path?Hesse's protagonist, however, seeks his own personal path to fulfillment, not someone else's. It is one of trial and error and he is only subconsciously aware of its nature. Although many see Siddhartha's quest as embodying the ideals of Buddhism, Siddhartha objects to the negative aspects of Gautama's teaching. He rejects Gautama's model for himself and he rejects Buddhism; Siddhartha insists upon the right to choose his own path to fulfillment.The primary theme of Siddhartha is the individual's difficult and lonely search for self-fulfillment. Both the means used by the hero in his quest and the nature of his fulfillment are of prime importance and reflect recurring themes that thread their way through all of Hesse's work.Although Siddhartha listens with great respect to the words of Buddha and does not reject Buddhism as being right for others, he, himself, does not become Buddha's disciple, but decides to pursue his goal through his own effort, not by following a teacher. All Is Connected By Donald Mitchell Siddhartha is that most unusual of all stories -- one that follows a character throughout most of his life . . . and describes that life in terms of a spiritual journey. For those who are ready to think about what their spiritual journey can be, Siddhartha will be a revelation. For those who are not yet looking for "enlightenment," the book will seem pecular, odd, and out-of-joint. That's because Hesse was presenting a mystery story, also, for each reader to solve for herself or himself. The mystery is simply to unravel the meaning of life.As the son of a Brahmin, Siddhartha would naturally have enjoyed access to all of the finest lessons and things of life. Knowing of his natural superiority in many ways, he becomes disenchanted with teachers and his companions. In a burst of independence, he insists on being allowed to leave home to become a wandering Shramana (or Samana, depending on which translation you read). After three years or so, he tires of this as well. Near the end of that part of his life, Siddharta meets Gotama, the Buddha, and admires him greatly. But Siddharta continues to feel that teachers cannot convey the wisdom of what they know. Words are too fragile a vessel for that purpose. He sees a beautiful courtesan and asks her to teach him about love. Thus, Siddhartha begins his third quest for meaning by embracing the ordinary life that most people experience. Eventually, disgusted by this (and he does behave disgustingly), he tires of life. Then, he suddenly reconnects with the Universe, and decides to become a ferryman and learn from the river. In this fourth stage of his life, he comes to develop the wisdom to match the knowledge that direct experiences of the "good" and the "sensual" life have provided to him.Few will find Siddhartha to be an attractive character until near the end of the book. Hesse is trying to portray his path towards balance and understanding by emphasizing Siddhartha's weaknesses and errors. But, these are mostly errors that all people fall into. Hesse wants us to see that we make too much of any given moment or event. The "all" in a timeless sense is what we should seek for.There is a wonderful description of what a rock is near the end of the book that is well worth reading, even if you get nothing out of the rest of the story. The "mystery" of what Gotima experiences when he kisses Siddhartha's forehead will provide many interesting questions for each reader to consider.I recommend that you both listen to this book on tape and read it. Hesse's approach to learning is for us to observe and feel. You will do more of that while listening than by simply reading. I was able to find an unabridged audio tape in our library for my listening. I encourage you to go with an unabridged tape as well. You will get more out of Siddhartha that way. I read the Hilda Rosner translation, and liked it very much.After you finish listening to and reading the book, I suggest that you think about what you have not yet experienced that would help you get a better sense of life. If you have tried to be a secular person, you could try being a spiritual one. If you have focused on being a parent, you could focus on being a sibling. If you have focused on making money, you could pay attention to giving away your time. And so on. But in each case, give yourself more opportunities to experience and learn from nature. That is Hesse's real message here.Ommmm
