Exceptional Study Material & Detailed Information for ANYONE who Reads By Kenneth Bracewell I appreciate the fact that Mr. Kaplan has taken initiative into an area that is well needed in our society by helping Veterans in the business world.The Companion Study Guide for The Fundamentals of Veteran Entrepreneurship goes hand in hand with The Prior-Service Entrepreneur: The Fundamentals of Veteran Entrepreneurship (Experiential Leadership) (Volume 1), which is an excellent read. It is like no other study material out there. It is detailed, structured well, and it goes over ALL necessary information needed in order for students to gain the knowledge, appreciation, and drive to achieve success as an Entrepreneur.I rated the Companion Study Guide for The Fundamentals of Veteran Entrepreneurship 5 stars because it is well deserved and appropriate. And, I must say - that although the book series is directed at U.S. Veterans -- civilians are just as benefitted. We have not finished, we have a group of 10 and we are, by choice, are taking our time with each section because they provoke so much thought -- it is exciting to my group's faces brighten up each time they associate with ideas. Kudos, Mr. Kaplan. I had already been using the textbooks, but the COMPANION STUDY GUIDE was worth the wait.THANK YOU

The dialogue is so spot-on, you'll think you're watching a movie (or eavesdropping in on live conversation) instead of reading a book. The story is heart-warming and gripping. Good stuff. You'll want Jessie to be your best friend and Danny to be ... well, you'll want Danny to be the one reading you this book ... that's what you'll want! I mean, let's just be honest, okay? I've already got this guy pegged to be a Keith Urban lookalike and I LOVE KU!!And here's the BEST NEWS: there's another book coming. YAY! So, when you get to the end, you're not done. THEY are not done.WE ARE NOT DONE!We're just done for ... 'cause we have to wait ... (it's gonna be so worth it!)

Nice story but it didn't live up to my expectations By Sandy Kay It is probably perverse thinking, but I want Christian fiction to be better than "regular" fiction. I don't want a Christian fiction book to feel like I'm settling for a lesser book just to get the inspirational message. I want the book to be so good that nonbelievers will want to read it. With that level of expectation, it is not surprising that this book didn't live up to it.The storyline intrigued me and I was hoping this would have a similar feel to one of Mary Kay Andrews's books like Savannah Breeze: A Novel with a woman forced to pull up her big girl pants and deal with a life situation she hadn't anticipated. But through most of the book, Jessie Stanton seemed excessively passive and relied on others. In particular, Danny the investigator she hires and her friend Piper do so much for her and often not "with" her. For example, Jessie has to move into a ghastly apartment but rather than using her creativity to fix it up herself, Danny and Piper do it all so she isn't moving into a dump and barely has to lift a finger. I'd have enjoyed the book a lot more if Jessie didn't seem so much like she was just being carried along by all the other characters.The budding romance between Jessie and Danny also seemed like it started too quickly -- Jessie's husband had just left and she's having feelings for Danny. It is worse in Danny's case -- he is the Christian character and it doesn't seem realistic that he would have romantic feelings for a married client. Given that this is intended as a 3 book series, I would have preferred them to stay just friends much longer.Most of the "Christian" content in the book comes in the form of musings from Jessie's grandfather, primarily about events from her childhood. I really didn't care for this aspect of the book. It felt kind of cheesy to me and it broke up the flow of the story.Although this book didn't live up to my expectations, I am still curious where the author is going to take the story so I am likely to read the next book in the series. And I will continue to hope that Jessie gets her own backbone and starts succeeding on her own two feet and not mostly due to the assistance of others.

This one stood out especially because it deals with a woman betrayed and how she struggles to overcome it.Jessie had it all . She was married to a successful husband who showered her with everything her heart desired. She could purchase anything she wanted and wore the most expensive and latest fashions. Her days were filled with shopping, having lunch with friends and enjoying the good life.One day , her husband leaves with no warning. Jessie finds herself penniless, alone and wondering what to do next. The journey she takes is one you will never forget. atbthe end of every chapter is a memory of words spoken from her Grampy. These words encourage her along her journey. I loved this part of the book because it reminds us of someone in our life that spoke to us when we felt helpless . It is not one of Sandra's books that make you laugh but rather deals with the struggle of losing everything and how to bounce back stronger than you were.Sandra writes with such depth for her characters and this book will not disappoint. A highly recommended book that will take you from anger, despair , finding trust and a little romance mixed in a book that gives you hope and encouragement for all who are or have struggled. This book is one not to be missed!

Unfortunately the editing, or lack thereof, is awful. Misspelled words, poor grammar and confusing timelines made it difficult to read without distraction. I truly wish the author many blessings in her writing career but she would need a better editor for future books.

If I Loved You caught me off guard. This book has it all - romance, action, more than one wicked relative, a bunch of handsome guys, a lovable dog and a couple of girlfriends we all would love to have. What more can you ask from a really good book. Williams knows how to develop characters that the reader will love or hate, but about whom you can't be ambivalent. Harper Falls is a town I'd love to visit and I'm looking forward to the next book in the Harper Falls series.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. If you like a good romance - pick it up By Keith Not my usual but we all need a change every now and then, right? "If I Loved You" by Mary J. Williams is the story of two singleton's named Jack and Rose (Sound familiar). For me, a very easy, fun but predictable read - although one of the things I really enjoyed about Miss Williams writing's is that she has a knack for not sugar coating things. So if you like a good romance it will tug at your heart string - If you like anything else, read something else. This kind of book may not be for me, but that's OK. I applaud the author for her good writing, colourful settings and likeable characters. Definitely recommendable to a " female" friend :P

I loved the plot and really enjoyed the characters of Rose and Jack. The story was enjoyable but with all the editing errors it was hard for me to want to continue reading. Why do authors not take the time to have their manuscript properly edited or at least proofread before publishing. This book had plenty of extra words that didn't belong, poor sentence structure, etc. This is a big pet peeve of mine. Maybe the author can make sure her other books will be correctly reviewed!

Rose feels she is unable to love...due to events in her childhood...plus if she gives her heart to someone then she stands the chance to get hurt. She sure doesn't want to hurt.Then there is Jack. He worked his way up from nothing and now wants for nothing. He has been a player and feels when the right one comes along he will know. Then he meets Rose! She is THE one. He knows he has to be patient and understanding. But trying to get through to her is like breaking down a brick wall. But he is determined.I love the characters and the flow of the story. The two best friends of Rose are Tyler and Dani and they are more like her family. Looking ahead the next book in the series is about Dani. I hope after that we get Tyler's story with or without Drew.This is a stand alone so don't worry there is no cliffhanger. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Only gave 3 stars because lately the authors material seems to be a little repetitive. You could consider this story a slimmed down version of his Substitute Wife series. Keeping my fingers crossed his next release will be something a little more compelling.

Review "Having read several of Jeremy Bates's books by now, the only thing I can safely say that it's not safe to label him a "horror" writer. It's true that in most of his works, the main characters find themselves in situations that would be rather scary if they happened to someone in real life. But his subject matter covers a wide range, encompassing science fiction, suspense, mystery and the good old fashioned fright fest. His novella "Run" is actually a taut suspense thriller about a woman being pursued by a very determined and very dangerous stalker,The woman who finds herself in peril is Charlotte (author Bates isn't big on last names in this book), who, in the book's prologue, is attacked and nearly killed by her boyfriend Luke, an Afghan war vet with PTSD who suddenly loses control. Luke goes to jail for the assault, and Charlotte decides to make a new life for herself in the South, going back to college and getting a new boyfriend Tony. Unfortunately, Luke comes after her when he gets out of jail. At first he wants to reconcile with her, but when she rejects him, he tries to kill her. Charlotte and Tony wind up fleeing to another state, with Luke not far behind."Run" is about 100 pages long, and its storyline could easily have sustained a considerably longer book. Pared down to a little over 100 pages, Author Bates can't establish Charlotte and Luke in as much depth in this short a book, but he does a fairly good job of explaining Luke's PTSD and making him a credible character instead of simply a convenient nutcase. Bates makes his point about the rather shoddy treatment soldiers with mental problems receive, but he never forgets he's writing a fictional thriller. The explanations never get in the way of the storytelling.Once Luke shows up with some clearly bad intentions, Bates keeps the action moving from one encounter to the next, with Charlotte and Tony trying to put as much distance as possible between themselves and Luke, who winds up becoming a rather sadistic detective in his efforts to find her. As in most thrillers of this nature, the police are conspicuously absent for most of "Run," but with Bates's rapid pace, few readers are going to nit pick details like this.Eventually, Bates does go overboard a bit, with a finale that seems like something out of "Phantom of the Opera" and a body count that keeps skyrocketing. I'm not shocked by violence, especially in this type of book, but the level of violence in "Run" distracts readers from the mounting suspense leading up to the eventual showdown between Charlotte and Luke. Fortunately, Bates redeems himself somewhat with a deliciously clever yet understated final plot twist in his epilogue."Run" is a short read and will likely be a quick one for most readers. Bates writes crisply and succinctly, and the book moves along at a fast pace. While I would have liked to have read a longer work revolving around these characters, "Run" delivers all the suspense and excitement readers would want in a book of this length. Better known thriller writers like John Grisham and Dennis Lehane may be in for a run for their money from Jeremy Bates."- Silver Screen Videos

Excellent , Pyschological Thriller And A Close Look At PTSD,,,,,, By Robin Lee After reading Jeremy Bates, "Island of Dolls" I wanted to try something else........This was an excellent, psychological , fast paced thriller, hence the title " Run".........It depicts not only PTSD in our Vets that come home and are not diagnose properly, but PTSD in general, depending upon how severe the trauma you were exposed to..............Also, the way our government treats or not treat our Veterans that are home with no where to turn.........Also, what it's like to be obsessively stalked.......It was a very bloody , violent ending, with a twist you don't see coming..........Charlottes boyfriend, Luke has just returned from a brutal tour at war........Dishonorably discharged, no benefits, pension, and mental health treatment.........To Charlotte she sees he is a changed man and is scared of him..........All 4 couples go on a camping trip and she thinks this will relax Luke.........Suddenly, all it took was one word and all hell broke loose...........Leaving a bloody carnage in it's path.......Luke is taken away to jail for a lifetime ........Charlotte breathes a sigh of relief and starts a new life for herself...........But someone shows up at her door unexpectedly, obsessed and now will stop at nothing to see her dead.......Poor Charlotte has no choice but to "Run"........

A Chilling Reminder of P.T.S.D. untreated By jorgal74 Although this is written as a fear laden journey throughout a period in the life of a woman(and everyone who has the unfortunate luck to be connected to her). This story also points out a very real problem in our society. Not only today, but since the late 1960's. This narrative tells the tale of a man let go from the military after being in Grenada. He's full of rage, confusion, ready to do damage to someone. He was not always this type of individual. Does the military treat this man for mental health issues, discharging him fairly due to the damage done from his service done as a soldier? NO! They do not. He's discharged from the Army due to a "personality disorder". Now I think if this were to occur to the majority of people, they'd be pretty damn resentful. Looking for some payback. U sure can't fight the government, so....who's left? That's right. Loved ones, or at least ones who have screwed us over in our minds. This young man is chasing his ex-girlfriend, and there is nowhere on this earth she can hide where he can't find her.

The author did a great job of capturing moments to draw the characters and their relationships. Nice, quick read for a rainy day—or any day, for that matter.

A finales del siglo XVIII, cuando dos miembros de la Real Academia Española, el bibliotecario don Hermógenes Molina y el almirante don Pedro Zárate, recibieron de sus compañeros el encargo de viajar a París para conseguir de forma casi clandestina los 28 volúmenes de la Encyclopédie de D'Alembert y Diderot, que estaba prohibida en España, nadie podía sospechar que los dos académicos iban a enfrentarse a una peligrosa sucesión de intrigas, a un viaje de incertidumbres y sobresaltos que los llevaría, por caminos infestados de bandoleros e incómodas ventas y posadas, desde el Madrid ilustrado de Carlos III al París de los cafés, los salones, las tertulias filosóficas, la vida libertina y las agitaciones políticas en vísperas de la Revolución francesa.

26 of 27 people found the following review helpful. 5 buenas razones para leer "Hombres buenos" By Eva García Sáenz, autora de La saga de los longevos Después de leer con avidez la nueva novela de Reverte, me atrevería a dar cinco buenos motivos, excusas, razones... para que cualquier amante de los buenos libros se adentre en el microcosmos que nos propone en esta ocasión D. Pérez-Reverte:1º) Una ambientación prodigiosa: es cierto que los que leemos a Arturo Pérez-Reverte desde que comenzó con novela histórica estamos acostumbrados a disfrutar de esas perlas de documentación que va dejando caer entre las páginas. En esta ocasión, de nuevo, tanto el Madrid de Carlos III como el Parí­s de finales del XVIII están magníficamente retratados.2º) La química entre los dos protagonistas: el bibliotecario don Hermógenes Molina y el almirante don Pedro Zárate. Una pareja cuya dinámica es el contraste, muy bien trabajado y con muchos matices. Bravo.3º) Un antagonista a la altura: tremendo y muy revertiano le ha quedado el villano, Raposo. Parco en palabras, uno de los grandes aciertos de la novela.4º) La ironía fina que desprenden muchos de los diálogos. El propio autor se atreve a nombrar con sarcasmo sus obras anteriores. "El bailarín murciano", le dice un compañero de la Real Academia, confundiéndolo con "El bailarín mundano", un guiño al protagonista de "El tango de la guardia vieja".5º) Toda la trama es un canto de amor a los libros... y esa es una buenísima excusa para que todos los adictos a las novelas nos sintamos dentro de estas páginas como miembros de una Hermandad que nos comprende.

Vazquez Durante el reinado de Carlos III de España (1759-1788), el bibliotecario Hermógenes Molina y el Almirante Pedro Zárate, miembros de la Real Academia Española, son comisionados para ir a París y adquirir LÉncyclopédie, una obra cumbre del conocimiento en su momento y prohibida en el reino. Mientras atraviesan la campiña ibérica dialogan sobre las sombras de España, la deficiente educación, el clericalismo militante, el inmovilismo y la ignorancia generalizada que mantiene el país inculto y anclado en el pasado. La llegada a París les fascina, el lujo y la libertad de expresión de las clases cultas les impresionan tanto como la miseria de la plebe urbana. Con el abate Bringas, un exiliado anticlerical y antimonarquico incendiario recorren todas las librerías de forma infructuosa, agotada solo encuentran ediciones incompletas o de poco fiar. Mientras continúan su búsqueda visitan el París elegante, los cafés, sostienen conversaciones filosóficas con grandes pensadores de su tiempo y con algunos miembros cultos de la aristocracia. Vigilados por el ex militar Raposo que hace todo lo posible por sabotear el cometido de los dos académicos hasta las mismas fronteras del reino.Novela muy bien escrita que marca un hito histórico español, la introducción de LÉncyclopédie editada entre 1751-1772 durante el reinado de Carlos III (1716-1788),época del Despotismo Ilustrado de las monarquías europeas que apoyándose en el pensamiento crítico y reformistas pretendían introducir mejoras en sus gobiernos, en la educación y la cultura áreas estas controladas y para beneficio exclusivo de las clases altas. Trama que a través de sus personajes el autor sorprende al lector con unos excelentes diálogos en la que dos hombres ilustrados discuten, hablan e intercambian opiniones y creencias de la época con los fermentos de lo que llegaría a ser años después la Revolución Francesa como telón de fondo y el oscurantismo deliberado por otro lado. Una novela que entretiene y educa a la vez.

By Lector espanol Me he congraciado con Pérez Reverte de nuevo tras leer esta novela.De lo mejor que ha escrito en años.Un impresionante relato que aúna un canto a la amistad (entre los dos protagonistas), una magnífica acuarela de un momento histórico de cambio como es el final del S XVIII y unas apasionantes discusiones sobre la libertad aderezado en un entorno de aventuras. Sinceramente no se cómo lo ha conseguido.... los tres temas por separado serían aburridos a morir!!Debo reconocer que me ha enganchado desde la primera página (fantástico movimiento de apertura que ya te deja con la curiosidad abierta para el resto del libro) y no he podido casi dejar de leerlo hasta el final.Gracias por estos momentos
