This is a must have book for anyone with Autoimmune Disease By oakforest More people suffer from Autoimmune Diseases than Cancer and Heart Disease combined. There is an epidemic happening and the healthcare world is just not equipped to diagnose, treat or heal.The immune system is so nebulous and just in the last few years has anyone made a substantial dent in how to heal from an Autoimmune Disease. As someone who has suffered from Hashimoto's and Celiac for over four years, I know first hand how hopeless healing an Autoimmune Disease is. I started out trying the SCD (specific carbohydrate diet) and then moved on to Paleo and AIP and started to feel better. But it wasn't enough. Jessica Flanigan is a trained Clinical Functional Nutritionist. She takes the AIP Diet, Clinical training and and introduces a concept that has not yet been explored by the Autoimmune community - which is LOVE.This book introduces a whole new concept to the Autoimmune Paleo world. The Loving Diet dives deep into mindset and what keeps us from being the best version of ourselves. Jessica teaches us how to reframe our thoughts and actions, so we can move forward in life without feeling guilt, shame or sadness about our illness or current state in life. This book would be perfect for someone dealing with an autoimmune condition or chronic condition, but personally -- as someone with neither of those conditions, I learned how to reframe my thoughts and words to grow with love for myself and those around me.

Since anxiety was such a strong component, I did mindfulness, therapy, and mindset work in addition to working with different doctors to find my root cause.What I experienced was confusion and self blame, because I had a doctor who told me I could do all the therapy I wanted, but it wouldn't go away until the toxins were gone. Recently my Lyme doctor told me how much Babesia can influence your mind (both docs said those things as encouragement that it's not my fault). Then I had therapists who ignored my diagnosis, and couldn't look deeper than the anxiety, and were upset that I didn't improve. I was left with feeling even more broken. The reality, is that it's a mix of the two. However, the power of the mind should not be overlooked, and in my gut I never felt right about not doing anything for my mind, while healing from an infection.I was searching for the perfect thing. Something that really resonated with me, and was the combination of mindset work along with respecting the work I was also doing with my doctors. Then came Jessica Flanigan and her wonderful book. Jessica respects the illness, while teaching you how to use mindfulness to help you draw healing toward you. As soon as I read about Jessica, I knew she was the perfect combination of medical and emotional that I had been searching for. What if your illness could teach you, and you could see what it has brought to your life, rather than taken away? It changes the perspective, and helps bring peace and healing because you are no longer running away and resisting, but accepting and loving.This book has really brought me a lot of peace, and the exercises in the book have helped me a lot. It's a book that I really enjoy sitting down to read, and often helps me relax and feel more hopeful before falling asleep at night. Gorgeous By Ana Mardoll The Scarlet Letter (Manga Classics) / 978-1927925331I've been a fan of Hawthorne since college, but I'll be the first to admit that his prose can be pretty heavy to wade through in parts. I've been wanting to re-read Scarlet Letter for years but it's just not something that I can sink easily into after a long day. So when a review copy of this book came available on NetGalley, I snapped it up as fast as I could, and ended up reading it in a single sitting that day.First of all, the artwork in this manga is gorgeous. The book is fully black-and-white (which is my one complaint; the color cover is just stunning) and the rendering of the faces is incredible and evocative. Each character is rendered uniquely and is recognizable to me, which is always a big plus for graphic novels. The scenery shots, too, are gorgeous and there is no skimping on detail. Seriously, I would recommend picking this up based on the art alone.Regarding the adaptation of the story: I love it. I haven't read Scarlet Letter in years, so there might be some details that I've missed, but this feels like a very faithful adaptation of the original. In some ways I almost like this adaptation better; I found Pearl and Dimmesdale to both be much more sympathetic here than I did in Hawthorne's novel, I think in part because of the emotive expressions rendered through the artwork. When Pearl is throwing flowers at the badge, for instance, she genuinely looks like a small child playing a game rather than a fae creature tormenting her mother (as Hawthorne was sometimes wont to render her). The added visualization made the story feel more real.My only other real criticism of this is that I wish the publisher would make a kindle version; other manga series have done well in electronic form, so why not these? I seem to be making a habit of reading this kind of adaptations to sample classics that have been on my to be read pile for quite some time.For this one, I remember seing the movie when I was little, but just the ending, and I actually own an ebook copy just waiting for me on my Kindle. I must say, this manga adaptation made me want to move it higher on my TBR list.The story, for those unfamiliar, is about a young woman who gives birth to a perfectly healthy girl. The problem, you are wondering? Well, it's just that she is not married to the man she conceived her with, and because of this, she is forced to wear a red letter "A" on her chest, which stands for Adultery. It is meant as a form of punishment and everyone in the village despises her and shows her to their children as a bad moral example. The identity of the father is kept secret by the poor mother, but it soon becomes very clear to the reader who he is.The illustrations are beautiful as expected from the Manga Classics series and as far as I've seen in other people's reviews, the story remains true to the original.As always, I recommend this to fans of the original novel, those who are thinking of reading it or anyone who loves manga in general.It is a fast read, an engaging, emotional story and a great way to relax after a bad day or when trying to get over a reading slump.If anyone involved in the making of this series of amazing manga adaptions of classic novels is reading this review, please add Jane Eyre to your collection and I will be the most grateful person in the whole wide world. It is my favourite classic of all time. Scratch that. It's my favourite book ever and that's all.

I could literally feel Hester Prynne's pain of wearing the scarlet letter. This was an extremely dramatic, passionate, and highly entertaining anime adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorne's classic novel.

This book is a nice simple explanation of law of attraction that I think is made to make more people believe in it. 30-day plan is a bit rushed though. Each day needs further explanation.

By 'Yomi 'Segun Stephen Design The Life You Love is a graphic novel-like workbook on figuring out your past and present, while planning your future. In other words, it is a book that teaches you to take stock of your life, remove the undesirables, and add your would-be desirables.Ayse Birsel lays the book’s foundation by saying that there are times we have to look forward and seek something more than what we already have in our lives. She advises that living a life true to our convictions does not happen while living autopilot, hoping things would work itself out. She explains that we have to think and map out our desires and take steps to fulfil them.The author claims that there are times when we, as humans, do not know what we need until we settle down and take stock of our feelings. She said it is this kind of moment that our innermost feelings start pouring out.The book has some light drawings that give out such playfulness, freedom and lightheartedness. Most importantly, you can sense a lack of judgement in the writing and doodles in the book – the author tells you to be free to write or draw anything you want, no matter how horrible it looks. Design The Life You Love by Ayse Birsel is like a workbook where you can be a kid again, writing and drawing out secrets lodged in your soul.The only downside with this book is its superficiality. Personally, I think that if you want to achieve your dreams, there is a bit far to go than just writing or “designing” the life you love on a piece of paper. And that’s no easy feat for an adult. It made me —the skeptic, busy and sometimes-way-too-serious adult— give a chance to be playful for 20 minutes at a time about my life, without judgement and any serious commitment other than having a pen, this book and a cup of coffee. And it’s with this ease, you get to learn new concepts (you mean I can “deconstruct” my life in two pages and see all its pieces?!) and new ways/tools to think to solve problems of all kinds.It’s a beautifully designed book, endorsed by not just me but also my 6-year old who loves this book and so attracted to the illustrations. Any book that is attractive to both of us is worth writing a review about.Buy it, read it, draw on it, put it away, read it again, share it with people who care about you and your life. You’re going to remember this book.

10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Quite the Regency oldie. From 1959. By OLT Oh, the magic of e-books. Out-of-print oldies available for reading again. Of course, this is the old-fashioned style Regency romance so it won't be to all tastes, especially those who enjoy the sexier recently-written HRs. After all, this book is 56 years old. But I had a great time reading it.Alice Chetwynd Ley (1913-2004) was a British writer of romance novels. She wrote these romances between 1959 and 1986 and this one is, I believe, her first. Her romances are quite old-school but, for me, they're a warm, comforting read. The writing is good, the characters engaging, and the plots, although predictable, hold my interest.This one has a bit of a mystery along with the romance. Heroine Jane is on her way to London to her new place of employment. The coach meets with a snowstorm and, as the passengers walk to a nearby inn, they discover an unconscious man, apparent victim of a robbery. He wakes up with amnesia and is befriended by Jane. They go off to London where he disappears w/o a trace.But there's much more to come. Jane goes to her new job as companion to a young countess and the story is off and running. There are lots of coincidences here to make the story go where the author wants it to, probably more than one could expect in real life, and some too-good-to-be-true events in the heroine's life but I liked this a lot and hope to find more of Chetwynd Ley's books available in e-format.

Jane, come down in the world, on her way to a companion position, basically saves the hero's life, and since he's been left for dead after a robbery, she even managed to fund his trip to London. He insists upon having her hold, as collateral, his snuffbox that the robbers somehow missed. The twist here is that the hero, who is obviously a gentleman of some substance, has amnesia. Jane suggests that he accompany her to her solicitor, where she's going anyway to tap some of her very limited funds for some new clothes. They get to London, she and the solicitor look over the snuffbox (while the hero waits outside) and find a compromising, if cryptic, letter. Jane gives the box to the solicitor and then goes outside to find the gentleman. He has vanished without a trace.Jane finds that her companion position is with a former schoolmate, Celia, who has married a much older man for position and title. Celia, although beautiful, is as shallow and nasty as you expect. Jane accompanies Celia to a meeting with a man who turns out to be Jane's mysterious stranger. Now he knows who he is, but he no longer remembers the events surrounding his former meeting with Jane.This is where the story went off the rails for me. The man, Richard, is a former suitor of Celia. Then Jane finds out that he is the brother of another of her former classmates, with whom she has reconnected, and with whom she has a good relationship. So what does she do? Does she go to the former classmate's house, tell Richard what happened to him and immediately return his snuffbox? No! There was no good reason why she doesn't, especially since she has begun to have feelings for him. No, she lets him run all around the place looking for it and causes all kinds of trouble for everybody. For absolutely no reason.There's a lot more and a twist I didn't see coming. This book was technically well written but I just could not get past Jane's failure to do what anybody would do. Even in a romance novel, where people do stupid things, drag their feet and don't communicate, this was just too over the top.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Very Old School, But A Good Read By Judge Tabor Amazingly good for a book written so many, many years ago. It was apparently first published in 1959 according to Wikipedia.This book isn't for everyone. For many of us who've been soaked again and again and even perhaps brainwashed by the hundreds and thousands of accounts of exactly how Society went about business during the Georgian, Regency and Victorian eras, some of the lingo in this book is a bit different.We have our main guy a victim of amnesia, while our sweet, little heroine, Jane Spencer, puts aside her own interests to help him at the inn where they are both stranded. She's on her way to a new position and he's on his way... Well, he doesn't know where he's supposed to go or what he's supposed to do. When they decide to go to her attorney's office for a bit of business, he leaves her with her attorney, planning to return... and voila! He's gone again and she's left with his jeweled snuffbox which contains a very compromising letter seemingly written by a lady (or perhaps not a lady).Sadly, Jane goes about her business, greatly regretting that her connection to this gentleman appears to be at an end. However, they meet before many days pass and it seems he now remembers who he is, but doesn't remember Jane. So, the story goes forward with Jane keeping her own counsel while becoming accustomed to her new job - that of companion to a horrid former schoolmate.Complications ensue and we're soon involved in a bit of a mystery and some romance. Very old school but I did enjoy reading it.

The story is definitely explicit and does involve bondage(not really any sadism) but it's written in a way that is totally hot. I wish there was more!!As I read this I couldn't help but think about the first smex scene in Finder v1 and kept thinking Hyde and Asami would get along and could share notes;) My only criticism is not with the story(which I loved) but that there were some mistakes with words that really should have been fixed and picked up on by editing(It's only 32 pages). An example: using "is" when it was clearly supposed to be "his" and there were a few more, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment.

Hyde is a perfect dom who gets off not on the act of whipping or anything as such "sadistic" - he gets off on the sheer pleasure his submissive receives through his ministrations. And Alphonse is a perfect sub for him - responsive, honest, fully enjoying himself, and learning to trust and love the man overwhelming his body. Alphonse may be the son of a powerful man and eager to step up and be in charge, but he also recognizes his own fascination for Hyde and lets Hyde have the chance to translate that into a submissive homosexual nature.The amount of care and skill Hyde exhibits speaks of a master, and Alphonse fully appreciates what he is receiving: not just the sex, which he comes to love, but also the way he is respected and tended to. They establish such a good dynamic together and I would die for a sequel when he comes back from school.As a post script, if Fifty Shades of Trash took a lesson from Hyde, maybe the world would see how excellent BDSM can truly be and the books and movie might have actually deserved the hype so mistakenly granted them. Please, anyone curious about BDSM, read this instead. This is sensual, accurate BDSM, not abuse.

Hyde's Dungeon is one of them. Hot and sexy and definitely turned me on. Would love to read more about Hyde and Alphonse.
