By Wulfstan Madelyn Fernstrom Ph.D (who also wrote The Runner’s Diet) and John Fernstrom Ph.D are Neuroscientists and experts in nutrition and pharmacology. This book will tell you what foods and supplements that react poorly with common medications. We're getting older, and taking more meds- and more herbal supplements. Your Doctor may not know what you're taking or might not even know some of these interactions. The two most common culprits are alcohol and Grapefruit, so it you do either, commonly, tell your MD and/or read this book. But there were others I was surprised to read, like St. John’s Wort is dangerous to take if you're on anti-depressants, Vitamin K if you're on Warfarin. The comprehensive and well written book also covers OTC painkillers, and talks about vitamins and similar supplements, such as garlic, echinacea , saw palmetto, cranberry, garlic, soy, ginseng, etc. I know many think these are "all natural" and thus safe- but they may not be safe when mixed with other supplements.

Each chapter covers the drugs in the major headings of antidepressants, pain relief, blood thinners, diabetes, heartburn, blood pressure, cholesterol-lowing and heart. In every chapter, each type of medicine is listed on bold lists, and information goes from general to specific. No matter how long you have been taking your meds, I guarantee you will find out something you are doing wrong. Love the chapters. Other books are way to complicated.

By clean food man Just about everyone in the United States is taking medicine of some kind. Here, finally, is a book that tells you won't neither doctors, friends, or the package insert will teach you. This book could literally save your life.
