They met three years ago. They were off-limits to each other. She hated him. He tried to help her. She was his patient. He was her doctor. Now, after a run-in at a coffee shop, they can't stay away from each other. Elise Parks spent her life in the public eye, haunted by demons she couldn't release. When she was seventeen, she met him. He was her therapist, attempting to open her up, but she shut him down, and ruined him in the process. Weston Snyder had finally managed to start his own practice. He was a rule follower; a guy who never colored outside the lines. When he saw her again, he knew he should've walked away,, but he couldn't stop himself. She'd never left his mind. Now she's older, grown, but still off limits. He wanted to do everything to help her, but he didn't plan on falling for her in the process, especially when he's hiding his own secrets. Secrets that could tear them apart.

By Joselyn A Perry 4 Solid StarsI was graciously gifted this book by the author and as soon as she sent it, I was pretty anxious to start it. I read throughout the entire day and honestly it was hard to put down because it kept me interested from the get go. Now in all honestly this book isn't your typical hearts and flowers romance book but rather a forbidden, taboo, raw and gritty book that dealt with some seriously disturbing issues for our heroine so if you are only looking for sweet romance then this isn't for you. Now luckily I like a variety in my reading and so I think that's what excited me most about reading this book, it was different and a new author for me and yes, it added some variety into my reading mix.I loved Weston, really loved him, he was sweet and kind and sexy as all hell too:) Now, I had some minor issues with Elise and call me crazy given her "issues" and did she have serious issues but I just found her crude at times and I had a bit of a time to connect fully with her the first half of the book. I guess immature would be the best word for me to describe when thinking of her initially..... I realize she had issues that were not in her control but at 20, hmmmm, I wanted to see some bit of maturity I guess and yet I do believe she was starting to turn that corner as we learn while reading. I am torn because I did like her and given what she was living through I guess it's not fair to "judge" her, lol, but she was a bit off putting for me at first but she did grow on me for sure and by the end I was happy for her. I really loved them together though, HOT stuff!!!!!! I loved how Weston helped her and the phone sex scene, omg, it was SIZZLING!!!!!!!!!Although this story was hard to read at times, I truly liked it a lot. All in all, I thought this book was very good and I definitely will read more from this talented author!Congrats to you Charity Ferrell and I look forward to more from you, too..... I would love maybe a novella in the future to catch up with these 2 and see how they are doing:)

This book broke my heart so many times, I honestly didn't see a HEA coming for Elise, but goodness knows I prayed for one for her. (Don't worry she gets one ;))WARNING: I do want to give everyone out a small warning about the content of this book. If you are sensitive to child abuse/molestation and forced sexual encounters, then this might NOT be the book for you.I did think that the author handled both of theses subjects very well. She didn't make these scenes very graphic, which I appreciated, but there was still enough information and detail given that I had a hard time reading through some of them (particularly around 47% in the book) As a reader I would've liked to been given a small heads up about the subject content….I still would've read the book but would've been a little more prepared, because these two subjects are ones I am not overly comfortable reading about. Now with all that said, I truly LOVED this book. I thought the storyline was fantastic and unique. I can't recall reading a book like this before. This story is actually one that is kind of taboo…we have two people who shouldn't be together or attracted to each other for a specific reason, but can't help themselves. I have to say Charity Ferrell is becoming an auto read for me. I know when I pick up her books that I am going to really enjoy the story and world she takes me into. I will say that this book was different from her other books, in that it is on the slightly darker side, due to subject matter. It is nice to see when an author can create a book different from their current books, because it shows their scope of writing skills. Charity's writing style is great, she sucks you in and holds onto you until the end. I had a very hard time putting this down. Her stories are detailed but not overloaded with too much information, I never feel like her books drag or move at a slow pace.I'm not going to give much away about the plot of this story, because I think everyone needs to experience the feelings from this story by themselves. In this book we meet Elise and Weston. Elise is a 20 year old girl, who is so broken (with good reason) that I honestly didn't see how she could be as strong as she was. At the age of 13 some really bad things start happening to her. (Brought on by her father) that continued for 4 years until she was 17. At 17 she finally decided to help herself and tell some one what was happening to her. Well let's just say that didn't turn out too well. At 17 she also met Weston for the first time. He was a 25 year old college graduate, taking on his first job as a psychiatrist. He only met with Elise on that first day of his new job, but she left a lasting impression on him. 3 years later they are reunited in a coffee shop. What happens after that is a story of healing, and love. Don't get me wrong…..the road to healing and love is a rough one for Elise, she has some serious obstacles to get around, but with Wetson's help she is able to do it.This story is told in primarily Elise's POV, but we do get some of Weston's POV. I thought it was perfect getting some of his thoughts and feelings. She added Weston's POV at the right spots, to help us connect with his side of the story. She was also able to add some shockers along the way ;)I would recommend this book to everyone because I thought this was a great book, with wonderful characters, but please take heed of the warning above, that if you are sensitive to certain subjects this might not be the one for you. I look forward to what Charity has coming out next :D
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. unique story and possible triggers By Justirishgirl This was an unique and engrossing story. I read it in one sitting. There are possible triggers in this story, specifically rape and abuse. I loved Weston and felt sorry for Elise. Elise endures horrible things but the book ended on a happy note, with a HFN ending.I dislike separations but this one was short and they stayed faithful to each other and so I was fine with it. It has a forbidden element to it but it did not bother me. I thought that Weston and Elise had good chemistry and the sex scenes were hot. I noticed minor editing issues such as Weston is called to the wrong name in one of the chapters but it did not bother me. It had both hero and heroine's point of view, which I liked but would have liked to read more from Weston's point of view then Elise, who was the dominate voice.
