It's been five years since Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett first worked together to solve the Tri-State murders, and time has been both harsh and kind. Engaged now, they face the challenge of planning a deeply uncertain future together. Zane is at the pinnacle of his career with one last mystery to solve, while Ty is at sea in a world where he's no longer the tip of a spear.

There's just one more hurdle in the way of their happy ever after: a traitor from their inner circle who threatens to burn their world to the ground.

Squeezed between the Vega cartel, an unknown mole, and too many alphabet agencies to count, Ty and Zane must gather all their strength and resources to beat the longest odds they've ever faced. To make it out alive, they'll need help from every friend they've got. Even the friends who might betray their trust.

Great ending to a beloved series, and I have to say I'll miss Ty and Zane badly.Read it if you are invested in Ty and Zane. It'll be worth it. I'm relieved because I felt (and still feel) B&C was an absolute mess full of squandered opportunities when it came to Ty and Zane's story to make room for the Nick overload we received -- not to mention other questionable things that happened in the last book. Initially, my serious dislike for book 8 colored my expectations for this one--I went in skeptically. Thankfully, I was able to relax and enjoy it. I'm happy to report that for me, B&C was the anomaly of the nine books.Crash & Burn: I'm pleased with the ending, the ensemble cast (balanced reasonably well this time), everything! This really felt more like the Cut and Run I know. I consider it redemption and worthy of the Ty and Zane I grew to love. Ticked down .5 because after the last 2 books, a lot of issues were left exposed without further resolution--book 8 ignored underlying issues left from 7, and in this book you are left to believe everything was resolved off page. Then the Sidewinder story overlap--Sidewinder series (Nick/Kelly) has become too inseparable from C/R, meaning you'll miss details if you skip a S/W book (I have not read the latest). Since this is the last C/R book, it will no longer be an issue for me. I will not be continuing with S/W.In conclusion: for the most part, if you can go in with your heart (not your head) without fussing over minutiae, Crash & Burn as a series ender is as close to perfection as possible. I'm sad to see them go. This is one of the few series where the characters will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thanks for the ride, Ty and Zane. :)

So much better than Ball and Chain By Edub82 You were likely wondering that if you're reading the reviews, as was I, so I will be basing most of my comparison on it. I was concerned that we'd be left with the same "whiskey tango foxtrot was that, and what happened to my Ty and Zane?!" feeling that B and C dumped on us, but Abigail Roux more than made up for the last mess with a great finale. Thank the baby Jesus. While there is a lot of Sidewinder in this book, they don't hijack it. It remains Ty's and Zane's story with some very important supporting characters. Yes, Nick is an integral role in this story, but not in a way that you want to smack your tablet into your forehead. The guys band together in a way that had me teary eyed. You feel the love. But again, I will stress that it did not feel like the other characters were being force fed to the reader. As for the characters themselves, that's another (dare I say most important) element I was very happy to see the author turn around. In the last book, they felt watered down, silly, and generic. Crash and Burn brings us back to what made us love these characters. They grew their balls back! They don't have to lose their edge simply because they've outgrown their love/hate limbo, and this book proves it. Ty has that scrappy, rakish quality again, and Zane is once more a badass mofo. The only difference is that they've grown in their relationship and ability to trust each other. Zane does things with knives that make me want to high five the nearest stranger. Ty fills the violence shaped void in his big, squishy heart. Chester has a "holy crap that's awesome!" moment. And Nick.. Well, I'm not angry at him for being in the book like I was the last go. Okay, I actually LIKED him in this one. Oh, and the witty banter is back! How I'd missed the sarcasm and uncomfortable jabs here. There's some very real tension and barriers they have to talk out between a few characters (namely Ty and Nick), but it gets you right in the gut. They aren't whining or being pig headed. Instead, they have to figure out how deep trust and brotherhood really run.If you can't handle a slight spoiler- as in something that happens in the first couple chapters- this is where you stop reading.I was so happy to see a couple big cliches avoided. For one, I was thoroughly expecting the impromptu wedding to go predictably array and dragged to the end of their happily ever ending. It didn't! They decided, "hey, we're doing this now come hell or high water," and they did.. Very early in the book. It was perfect for them. Invisible color palate and a stealth theme, but still heartbreakingly romantic. As for the end, I won't go into any detail, but it was satisfying without being toothache sweet. No cringing necessary. Just enough happy ending to make my heart feel a little better about leaving these guys.Overall, this ending was worthy of a great series with wonderful characters. Abi Roux has a special way with giving the reader a chance to really bond with these guys. I empathized with them in a profound way, cried with them, laughed with AND at them. I am so sad to see them go, but it was a beautiful journey that was worthy of a great, explosive (bad pun penalty!) ending. Time to go cry now.

If you're like me, you have loved and battled and felt every up and down with these men. Crash & Burn is suppose to be the final installment of the Cut & Run series. I sure won't be mad if it isn't, but if it is, it was an excellent way to go out.All the characters from every book in the Cut & Run Universe including side books and spin offs are present. Be prepared for lots of reveals. Many people are not who we thought they were. It's very secret spy ops. Also ready yourself to loose some characters. Who's good/bad/alive/dead?Crazy Chester is there filling in some laughs and of course all the other men with that dry sense of humor they have. I got emotional several times from all the deep friendships, bromances and romance. Yes, I did have tears. Some of the moments are a sad experience, some are touching and some we have been wanting for so long.Crash & Burn's action is off the charts. While reading, I kept thinking, this has got to be made into a movie. There are guns, bombs, fighting, knives, bad guys everywhere...Sex scenes don't dominate this storyline, but the ones that happen are extra steamy. I read so much that sadly sex scenes just run together sometimes, but I was undeniably all tingly while reading these.Ty & Zane are my favorite couple ever. I really hope that they have more books or parts in the spin offs. Sometimes when I think of them, I just love them so much that I feel like I can't stand it. A series like this one doesn't come along every day. Nine books in and the audience is still captivated. Any Cut & Run fan is sure to devour this book as well as anyone looking for an exciting, suspenseful, mysterious, thrilling ride with a big helping of heart."You know I'd follow you anywhere. Even if it's straight to Hell.""I need you to be my brother again.""I don't know how to be me without it.""I love you.""And I'm too stubborn to let you die without me."
