Fun Read If You Can Deal With The Incredible By Caroline Baisley, MSW These collections of books can really be hit or miss from month to month and they don't give you a whole lot about plot in the compilations. This one was very good. First story was about a woman who was a foster care mother for a group of children toddler through teen. There's a shooting next door and a congressman is shot and his son is murdered. Foster mother finds one of her kids may or may not have witnessed the shooting. A canine team are lead in the investigation. Both foster mother and man half of canine team have baggage, which is why they are single. This story was well written and interesting. I'm not sure if the things I found disconcerting are because different states have different procedures or there was poor research. I found it not terribly credible that they put a single woman in charge of a home with like 6 kids, that the age range was so disparate and that her aide was so incompetent and hysterical. That wouldn't be done in my state. But if you ignore that, it's good. Oh, and this is part of a series and there are 5 more books before you will learn who did the murder. The second story was about a home health care nurse and a CIA operative. Again, well written but the details require a significant suspension of disbelief. The nurse was at the home of the CIA operative's father for 8 months, but the father was climbing ladders until shortly before he died. First, the appropriate level of care would at best be a home health aide and even that is not appropriate for someone who can climb ladders. But lots of action and intrigue. The third book is about a woman who counsels victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She has been the victim of an aborted assault herself. She broke an engagement because of the assault. Her car is bombed and the detective is her former fiance. Again, there are issues with the plausability of the story line, but the story remains interesting. The biggest issue is the resolution. There is not enough foreshadowing setting up what one character does, a situation where a suspect is eliminated but then we find he's guilty of some things and then a fight scene that requires a whole lot of suspension of disbelief. The biggest problem I'm having is deciding on the number of stars to give. From what I've written, I should pan this, but the truth is all 3 stories were fun reads and very enjoyable. So, minus 1 star for the technical problems but 4 for the fun.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Suspense at its best! By Marilyn Osborne My favorite of the Love Inspired series is the suspense novels. Each book keeps me guessing until the last few chapters, sometimes the last chapter! I'm looking forward to more of the K-9 books.
