This book includes: Mrs. Jeffries Pinches the Post; Mrs. Jeffries Pleads Her Case; and Mrs. Jeffries Sweeps the Chimney (these are books 16, 17, and 18 in the series - there are over 30 books in the series). Many of the earlier books in the Mrs. Jeffries series are out of print and some are very expensive to buy used. This is a great way to get 3 books in one, and at a reasonable price. (This is the 6th book to contain 3 books in one.)The Mrs. Jeffries series takes place in Victorian England. Mrs. Jeffries is the housekeeper for Inspector Witherspoon who investigates homicides for Scotland Yard. Mrs. Jeffries and the household, and a few of their friends, help find clues to help the inspector solve homicides (without his knowledge). This is a wonderful series. The books are very well written and are an easy read. Ms. Brightwell does a wonderful job of describing everything, without being "wordy". I highly recommend. (I've lost track how many times I've read each book. I never get tired of re-reading them.)

My bookshelf space is very limited, so I have been buying the 3-volume anthologies, and have the first 6, (that's 18 single books) and am eagerly awaiting word when the 7th will become available. I do wish these anthologies would be published more frequently. As each anthology contains 3 previously-published books, these anthologies appeal to a different market than those first-published single books.I will just go on wishing...... .

The characters are all very nice and eager to get on with solving the Inspector's cases. They are all smarter than the Inspector and he doesn't know that they will help him solve the case.the characters are all people in his house under his employ--his housekeeper, his cook, his footman, his coach driver and his maid. Other characters involved are a next door neighbor and her hired man. They all; meet regularly to discuss the case and plan their strategy.
