Four women span four epic decades of Russian history, trying to discover their heritage and fighting for love against a backdrop of war, espionage &cold war secrets in this critically acclaimed series by RITA and Christy Award winning, ECPA & CBA best-selling novelist Susan May Warren. From Russia with Love--2004 Carol Award Finalist Kat Moore can’t believe that 24 hours after landing in Moscow, she’s on the run from the KGB. But after receiving a mysterious key, she knows there are clues to who she is that can only be found in Russia. Unfortunately, she’s only made it worse by escaping protective custody. Now he has to not only track her down, but keep her safe long enough to get her home. “Susan K. Downs & Susan May Warren tell a vivacious tale full of romantic suspense in this first of the Heirs of Anton series.” Romantic Times Magazine: The Spy Who Loved Me--2005 Carol Award Finalist Nadia “Hope” Moore always feared that being married to her super spy husband, Mickey, would get her--or him, killed. But she’s not going to let him die, even if he has betrayed her. The last thing Mickey wants is his beautiful wife to spring him from gulag. Execution is the price of his stupidity, and without the ability to get word to Nadia, she’ll walk right into the same trap. But when his worst nightmares seem to come true, he’ll have to choose between saving the woman he loves, and becoming the traitor his country has branded him. “This second in the series thrusts the reader along a fast track of adventure with all the elements of vintage romance.” Romantic Times Magazine: A Greater Love Widowed by the Third Reich, Marina is driven by grief to join the fight for freedom as a Russian partisan sharp shooter, sabotaging Nazi supply lines. Until he discovers that the beautiful partisan whose been helping him has a secret that just might get her killed. Now, he must choose between following his heart or redeeming his past. Either decision will change his life forever. “The ‘Susan’s’ have woven a bittersweet story of love and hope set in a tumultuous period of Russian history. Marina has many things: intrigue, suspense, tears, joy, and most of all, hope. It will draw you in and hold you to the very end.” www.ChristianBookPreviews.com Ever in My Heart--2006 Carol Finalist Anton Klassen can’t believe the Czar himself has charged him with protecting the maid of one of the royal daughters. More, she’s harboring a priceless treasure – one that, if discovered, could destroy him and his entire family. Oksana can’t believe that the Czar would put her life in the hands of a lowly – albeit handsome – farmer. Still, Anton has a hero’s heart. She longs to fall in love, but the secret she carries is simply too risky. . . Except, the truth can’t stay hidden forever, and when it is revealed, it just might cost her everything. And Anton must suddenly make a terrible choice – save the woman he’s come to love, or save the country he’s been tasked to protect. “Five Stars! Each book in this series has been a joy to read, each complex in and of itself, and yet also contributing to the underlying plot that is woven throughout all four novels. This is, without a doubt one of the best fiction series I have ever had the pleasure of reading!” —K. Amazon.com reader

A Complex Tale of One Family's History & Adventures By Katy Kauffman These books have an intriguing theme--the generational struggles of one family of women. Starting with the newest generation and working backward, this series unfolds the secrets and adventures of Kat, her mother, and so on. I love how the story line is set in Russia, where one of the authors, Susan May Warren, lived as a missionary. I like how some Russian is included in the book, although it's not always translated. I recognize some words since I studied it a while ago, and I appreciate the references to "kasha" - a sort of milky, soggy breakfast dish. I will never forget eating kasha in Ukraine.1st book: Ekaterina - 3 stars - The characters are extremely likeable and endearing; however, the story line was a little slow for me.2nd book: Nadia - 3 stars - More love story (or love struggle) than a spy novel with a lot of action, this book reveals the struggles that Nadia and her husband faced. Flashbacks are included in a lot of introspection.3rd book: Marina - 4 stars - This felt like a spy novel to me, although the backdrop is one of the world wars. Although the war is violent and miserable, love sparks between two partisans, and holds the reader's attention all the way to the end.4th book: Oksana - 5 stars - This book is the pinnacle to me of all the love stories, emotional struggles, and intrigue in this series. Now we know why certain things happened in the other books, and we can fit the pieces of the puzzle together better. Although the patriarch of this family, Anton, isn't what I imagined him to be, he is definitely the man he ought to be, and I loved him for it. What a story.

The heirs of Anton kept me reading hour after hour until I finished the fourth book. The stories of each generation of women and men in the Klassen family takes you by the heart. My heritage is German from Russia, and though my ancestors came to America in the 1800's, it was frightening to read what happened to those who stayed in Russia. There are many twists and turns that will keep you guessing, and some Faith growing passages I will not forgetI cannot recommend this book highly enough.

And, this is the first time I have read a set of stories where they are told in reverse, starting with the 3rd generation and going back to the first generation. Loved how these books were complicated, full of love, suspense, intrigue. Set in Russia, it was nice to learn about wars and history from the perspective of people who were fighting to preserve their country and their religious traditions. This author is excellent and I am looking forward to reading many more of her books.
