Another Shot is a contemporary romantic novella based on the classic story of Ruth and Boaz. My name is Rae, and this is my story. Regretfully, it begins on a sad note. Everything was taken from me when my husband died in a tragic car accident. Less than two weeks after the accident we were on our way to New York. I trusted we'd make it somehow, but never imagined someone greater than us already had a plan in place—a plan as romantic as a fairy-tale.

By Carol A modern day retelling of the story of Ruth and Boaz showcasing several characters: Dominic, Laura, and Rae. This book shows the very real struggle of recovering from the loss of someone special. After moving from their home to the city, Rae and, her mother-in-law, Laura have to find a way to support themselves. With the help of their extended family they manage to find themselves well on their way to paying off the debts that they owed. Rae also finds herself falling in love with Dominic who runs the business where she works.All in all this book was a very enjoyable read!

In the book of Ruth, Ruth loses her husband and returns to Israel with her mother-in-law, Naomi, who has also lost her husband. It is there that she meets and marries Boaz. Author Brook St. James gives us a modern take on this tale in "Another Shot". Rae loses her husband in a tragic car accident and agrees to move to New York with her mother-in-law, Laura, who also lost her husband in the accident. It isn't long before Rae meets Dominic and to say that this is a romantic and touching story would be putting it mildly. Very enjoyable read from a talented writer.

I know the story of Ruth and Boaz and I was intrigued as to how the author would interpret it. It was refreshing and romantic. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to more from Ms St James
