By Stony Monday This is the second book in the series and is very well written and fills in the the time frame before doc goes off to tombstone. I enjoyed it very much because I am a great fan of all the participants in the tombstone affair. However to me it was not as interesting as the authors first book, it got a little dull and dry in places but over all I would call it a good read. I am looking to purchasing the third and final installment of the series. With all the action and drama that happened in Tombstone the author has the opportunity to make a third book a very exciting and emotionally charged work. I hope she has done an excellent job.

"Endure, dream, fail at & survive" By GBA I do not like to read lengthy reviews so offer apologies from the start for this one and will make it as brief as possible to say what I would like to say about this/these two very good books. If the books are marketed correctly (and possibly other books by this author) I think she will be known beyond her lifetime as a remarkable writer, just as Margaret Mitchell was. The author acknowledges her admiration for Margaret Mitchell and pays respect to that admiration in the writing of these books. Because "Inheritance" and "Gone West" are two of a trilogy a lot in this series is riding on Victoria Wilcox for a good conclusion to the trilogy in 2015. So far both books hands down earn a five star. If picked up by the motion picture industry and done the same justice on screen as Gone With the Wind I am sure it would be an overwhelming success even in a generation that does not feature many historical fiction type films. Just a few weeks before I read both of these books Mayo Angelou passed away and I could not help but to think about four things she has been quoted as saying that I would like to pass along as food for thought in this review. 1.) “History with all its unending pain cannot be outlived, but faced with courage need not be lived again.” 2.) "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel" 3.) “I speak to the Black experience, but I am always talking about the human condition--about what we can endure, dream, fail at and survive.” 4.) “Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future and renders the present inaccessible” Every one of these thoughts can be addressed in the pages of Victoria Wilcox book which although is historical fiction uses the very liberty of historical fiction to help the reader to consider times in their own life/generation and the ones gone before them that have shaped them for better or worse and then calls them to relate in a way that helps them to consider the consequences of their own personal thoughts and actions. Also if taken into thought by the reader, just as some speculate about real meaning of the Wizard of Oz, there are considerations to be looked at into what happened to America economically in the era of Doc Holliday, especially in regards to silver which is where the author leaves us waiting until the third and last part of the trilogy.

By Jackie Winn Gone west is the second in a series of books by Victoria Wilcox ("Inheritance" being the first) I could not put the book down it was so good. It is a tale of Doc Holliday after his flight from Georgia to the West and his life in the west, and his friendship with the Earp family. I am eagerly waiting on the next book "The Last Decision." I can't spoil the book with details. Read it for yourself after "Inheritance."
