Since finding my new passion, I have a lot less time to spend in the kitchen creating the culinary masterpieces that I used to love. Meals on the Run is the perfect marriage of healthy/delicious and time saving recipes. So far, I've loved every single thing I've made and am delighted at the fact that I can be in and out of the kitchen in no time, allowing for me to never skip a run! The book is easy to read, with super clear instructions and beautiful images. These recipes keep me fueled and satisfied throughout my day, not to mention my fella likes them too! I really think runners and non-runners will all agree that the recipes in it are top-notch. This is my favorite new cookbook hands down. GET IT!!

Real, nutritious food, not full of plain white flour and other less healthy ingredients. Easy to make and tasty. Plus, it offers numerous little nutrition tips, such as noting that honey "contains oligosaccharides, a type of sugar that may promote the growth of healthy bacteria in the intestinal tract" in the recipe for Honey Energy Bars. The Warm Gingerbread Pudding is nearly worth the cost of the book alone. I discovered this when Runner's World magazine ran a few sample recipes. Usually, that's all I need, but when I looked into the book further, it was hard to pass it up.

I don't get home from after work and the gym until around 7:30-8:00pm. By then I am not in the mood to cook something that is really involved, but I do want something that is healthy. This cookbook is filled with meals that take about 30 minutes or less to cook. I am so much more motivated to cook when I get home knowing it will be good, good for me, and quick to make. Highly suggest buying it.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. All for one, and one for all!! By J. W. Scales This book represents David Leadbeater's ambitious effort to unite three of his "world saving" teams in a single "do or die" challenge. SPEAR (Matt Drake), The Gold Team (Alicia Myles), and The Razors Edge (Chris Collins) are called upon to work together to locate and neutralize a well funded, well equipped group of terrorists, the Pythians. The struggle takes place across international boundaries from Los Angeles to London, Paris, and Mt. Olympus in Greece. The action is non-stop, and the body count is high, even for Leadbeater. The only pauses in the action throughout the whole story come when the repartee between the team members gets to be sometimes silly, sometimes suggestive, and, many times, just off-the-wall. As in most stories of this type, there are running gun battles where more ammunition is expended than the combatants could conceivably carry, even if they each had a loaded truck. Another anomaly is the presence of, not one, but four, 300 ton dumpers (dump trucks in the US) on the streets of Long Beach, CA. This size truck is designed for off-road use in open pit mines and the like. Could city streets handle the 600,000 pound behemoths? I wonder.Despite the questions, this is a good story that will keep you up at night to see just how the teams get along together, and how they solve the problems they are confronted with. Looking forward to the next adventure of the combined team or the individual groups.

The Oracle of Ix Chel, by Rosita Arvigo

Review "The Oracle of Ix Chel is a tour de force of narrative, history, and insight into a culture and cosmology. Set in the Mayan city of Chichen during pre-Columbian times, it tells the story of a gifted woman committed to her lineage and its sacred path. Rosita Arvigo's intimate knowledge of ancient Mayan practices infuses every page. As soon as I finished, I was ready for the next installment." -- Hope Edelman, Author of Motherless Daughters and The Possibility of Everything"From the first paragraph, it grabbed my attention and held it. I didn't want to put it down.  A wonderfully captivating book, filled with alive, complex characters." -- Rosemary Gladstar, Author of Planting the Future: Saving Our Medicinal Herbs "I was drawn into the world of Jade Skirt like a hummingbird attracted to the nectar of a luscious, red hibiscus blossom. Rosita Arvigo expertly weaves a tale of life in a post-Toltec Mayan landscape--part fiction, part deep intuitive knowing from Rosita, but mostly a refreshing 'her'-story that brings alive these particular peoples during their time. Both immensely entertaining and deeply inspiring, The Oracle of Ix Chel will leave readers waiting impatiently for Book 2."   --  Pam Montgomery,  Author of Plant Spirit Healing and Partner Earth: A Spiritual Ecology"A wonderfully engaging journey through magic, myth and time. Through this beautiful tale, in her very special voice, Rosita Arvigo brings us to a place that once was.  Arvigo's remarkable descriptions of rainforest plants and shamanic ritual adds a beautiful richness to the page-turning plot. Her fascinating story is written from the heart and will delight the reader as well as convey wisdom of the ancients." -- Michael J. Balick, Ph.D., Ethnobotanist, The New York Botanical Garden Readers' Favorite Five-Star Review: "It's an exciting story told in convincing detail, and the character portrayal and imagery add variety and intrigue to a battle for survival and freedom." -- Reviewed by Nandita Keshavan for Readers' Favorite

Maya Priestess Makes Hard Choices to Follow Her Heart - and the Will of Her Goddess By TRafael This is an exciting story based in turbulant ancient Maya times. The main character is a nobel woman who is the Oracle of Ix Chel, a healer and a prophet who must make difficult choices to carry out the will of Ix Chel. While Ix Chel is a goddess of love and healing, priests of the god of war has risen in power, demanding cruel human sacrifice to ensure the continued prosperity for the land.Arvigo has studied ancient texts and many sources to share a great deal of authentic information in a fictional story. If you like historical stories about unknown cultures that also have great heart, this one is for you. You'll learn much about healing, about Ix Chel, about social customs of the Maya - all in an entertaining format.I can't wait for the next installment, about life on the women's island of Cozumel!

By Sharon Bladholm Just finished Rosita Arvigo’s wonderful novel which I highly recommend.Having visited numerous Mayan sites and met the decedents of the Classic Maya in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize, plus reading about the Maya for 30 some years, I must say Rosita’s book brought the Maya and their world alive for me in a way nothing else quite has!Her descriptions of herbal healing and spiritual rituals are superb and certainly informed by her own deep experience in these realms. Her voice is authentic and rings true and I couldn’t help but morph Rosita’s own voice onto Jade Skirt a bit having been lucky enough to enjoy some of Rosita;s fascinating herb walks here in Chicago.I also love that the main characters of the story are mature people but still so fully alive and living out adventures, destinies and desires. I I admit when i read the back of the book I was assuming Jade Skirt would be a younger woman but it was refreshing to find she was older.Rosita does a superb job of bringing her vast knowledge and meticulous research of the Mayan world into the characters and setting. I loved that she imbued then with a sense of humor and real feelings which helps us connect to an ancient people and culture through time and space. For those who are new to the Maya this is a great introduction and an excellent book to pack on a trip to the Mayan world if you would like to breath life and personalities into the mysterious jungle ensconced temples of Mesoamerica. Looking forward to the next one!

Over the past 30+ years, the author has lived with contemporary Maya and researched ancient Maya civilization. In writing this novel, she shares with us not only an engaging story of eternal human passions and challenges, but also about the culture itself and possible theories of the ancient civilization. Rosita Arvigo is a natural, dynamic story teller with a deep understanding of people. It's a great story, and both my husband and I are eagerly waiting for the next in the series!

“Splendid and absorbing . . . [Drndic] is writing to witness, and to make the pain stick . . . These dense and satisfying pages capture the crowdedness of memory.” — New York Times Book Review   Haya Tedeschi sits alone in Gorizia, in northeastern Italy, surrounded by a basket of photographs and newspaper clippings. Now an old woman, she waits to be reunited after sixty-two years with her son, fathered by an SS officer and stolen from her by the German authorities as part of Himmler’s clandestine Lebensborn project. Haya reflects on her Catholicized Jewish family’s experiences, in a narrative that deals unsparingly with the massacre of Italian Jews in the concentration camps of Trieste. Her obsessive search for her son leads her to photographs, maps, and fragments of verse, to testimonies from the Nuremberg trials and interviews with second-generation Jews, and to eyewitness accounts of atrocities that took place on her doorstep. From this broad collage of material and memory arises the staggering chronicle of Nazi occupation in northern Italy.   “Although this is fiction, it is also a deeply researched historical documentary . . . It is a masterpiece.” — A. N. Wilson, Financial Times   “A book of events that have made the last century infamous for the ages, a book that, if it moves you as it moved me, you will have to set down now and then, to breathe." — Alan Cheuse, NPR

Trieste, by Dasa Drndic

From Booklist Just as the river Soca wends through northeastern Italy, bearing witness to everything it touches, Trieste roams through the tragic array of Jewish experiences during the region’s Nazi occupation. It centers on Haya Tedeschi, an elderly woman whose son, fathered by an SS officer, had been stolen away as part of the Lebensborn breeding program. During her relentless search for him, Haya revisits her family’s lives over generations and collects artifacts about the atrocities—from photos, songs, and testimonies from war-crime trials to heartbreaking stories that have waited too long to be heard. Drndic has assembled an angry scrapbook of searing memories, horror, and loss. For the Holocaust’s victims, there is no hope; for its perpetrators, there is no punishment. Trieste’s originality lies not just in its structure and forceful, unflinching imagery—translator Elias-Bursac deserves acclaim as well—but also in how it brings the lingering effects of the Nazis’ merciless racial policies forward into the present. Here the past doesn’t lie dormant and forgotten but is a cancer that can poison us from within. --Sarah Johnson

Review

"A work of European high culture...Even at their most lurid, Drndic’s sentences remain coldly dignified. And so does Ellen Elias-Bursac’s imperturbably elegant translation." –The New York Times Book Review

"A palimpsest of personal quest and the historical atrocities of war...Undeniably raw and mythical...Trieste evolves as a novel in the documentary style of the German writer W.G. Sebald, but also as a memorial of names, and as a novel about one woman's attempt to find order in her life. And as a book of events that have made the last century infamous for the ages, a book that, if it moves you as it moved me, you will have to set down now and then, to breathe, to blink and blink and say to yourself and whatever gods you might believe in, please, oh, please please please, never again." – Alan Cheuse, NPR

"Trieste…explores the 20th century’s darkest chapter in an original way, both thematically and stylistically, without ever diluting the disaster...So unflinchingly does Drndic present her detail that after certain passages concerning freight-train journeys, gas chambers and euthanasia centers, it pays to put the book down and take a break and gulps of fresh air. Potent, candid writing, while deserving of praise, is not always the easiest to digest...Trieste is an exceptional reading experience and an early contender for book of the year." –Minneapolis Star Tribune

"An extraordinarily rewarding novel...Rich." –Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"A darkly hypnotic kaleidoscope of a book...Drndic has in her own way composed an astonishment that extracts light from darkness."  –The Jewish Daily Forward

"Although this is fiction, it is also a deeply researched historical documentary. Haya's life story is woven artfully into a broader tale of the twentieth century's atrocities. The book begins gently, introducing us to the archiepiscopal see of Gorizia in a manner reminiscent of WG Sebald . . . It is a masterpiece." –A.N. Wilson, Financial Times

"Trieste achieves a factographical poetry, superbly rendered by Ellen Elias-Bursac, implying that no one in Axis-occupied Europe stood more than two degrees from atrocity." –Times Literary Supplement

"Trieste is more than just a novel, it's a document that should be compulsory reading in secondary schools ... Books like this are necessary whilst there's still a glimmer of hope that eloquently reminding us of the past may prevent its repetition." –Bookbag

"Trieste is a massive undertaking. It swings from stomach-churning but compelling testimonials from former concentration camp workers to fluid fictional prose." –Irish Independent on Sunday

"In this documentary fiction, the private and public happen at once, large and small scale, imagined with just the same biographical precision. Haya sits dazzled in the cinema, lost in the unbelievable glamour on the screen; meanwhile, neighbors are disappearing. . . . The picture Trieste offers is cumulative -- so is its effect. For a reader with a taste for tidy narrative, its wilfulness can be maddening, and yet the multifarious elements that comprise Haya's story and its grand context are an incredibly dense and potent mixture, too." –The Independent "Trieste is a brilliant, original conceptualized novel consisting of fragmented memories and a series of concentrated history lessons that will challenge a reader with its irregular construction and seeming lack of continuity. It may not be easy but it is well worth reading and will assuredly linger in memory." –BookBrowse "Powerful, disturbing, original...Author Dasa Drndic uses her technique with painful effectiveness." –New York Journal of Books

"Drndic’s monumental work about a hitherto rarely discussed aspect of the Holocaust, and about the ongoing consequences of fascism, is not for the fainthearted, but its seamless combination of beautifully told story and relentless harsh documentation makes for a deeply engaging and unforgettable read." –Jewish Renaissance

"A powerful and original testimony, moving and hypnotic." –Historical Novel Review

"Richly textured reminisces...Drndic's themes, use of history, and narrative technique invite favorable comparisons to W.G. Sebald." –Publishers Weekly

"Outrage, horror, and grief simmer beneath the surface of this gripping novel...An unbearable, unusual, and unforgettable tribute to a very dark period of history...Highly recommended, this story’s gripping historical approach calls to mind the work of Norman Mailer and Don DeLillo." –Library Journal, starred

"Trieste’s originality lies not just in its structure and forceful, unflinching imagery—translator Elias-Bursa deserves acclaim as well—but also in how it brings the lingering effects of the Nazis’ merciless racial policies forward into the present."  –Booklist

"An epic, heart-rending saga from the Croatian novelist about a forgotten corner of the Nazi Holocaust...A brilliant artistic and moral achievement worth reading." –Kirkus, starred

From the Inside Flap "A masterpiece" (A. N. Wilson), this many-layered novel of WWII combines fiction with a collage of facts to explore the fate of Italian Jews under Nazi occupation, through the intimate story of a mother's search for her son.Haya Tedeschi sits alone in Gorizia, in northeastern Italy, surrounded by a basket of photographs and newspaper clippings. Now an old woman, she waits to be reunited after sixty-two years with her son, fathered by an SS officer and stolen from her by the German authorities as part of Himmler’s clandestine Lebensborn project.Haya reflects on her Catholicized Jewish family’s experiences, dealing unsparingly with the massacre of Italian Jews in the concentration camps of Trieste. Her obsessive search for her son leads her to photographs, maps, and fragments of verse, to testimonies from the Nuremberg trials and interviews with second-generation Jews, and to eyewitness accounts of atrocities that took place on her doorstep. From this broad collage of material and memory arises the staggering chronicle of Nazi occupation in northern Italy.Written in immensely powerful language and employing a range of astonishing conceptual devices, Trieste is a novel like no other. Daša Drndic has produced a shattering contribution to the literature of twentieth-century history.

Haunting, Brutal Telling of the Nazi Solution in Italy By Burgmicester Dasa Drndic is a Croatian novelist using an interesting combination of history and fiction to tell an unforgettable story that is often ignored in stories of WWII. The Lebensborn Project was designed by Himmler to increase the Aryan gene pool by stealing blonde hair, blue-eyed children and by forcing pregnancies by selecting the parents and using secret adoptions of these children into strong Nazi homes. This hidden Project is brought out in the later chapters by Drndic and completes the circle of her main character’s nightmares.Using an old lady’s grieving mind as she waits patiently for her son - fathered by a Nazi SS soldier, stolen by the Nazi and placed into the secret Lebensborn Project - to return to her. Haya Tedeschi, a Jew living in Gorizia, relives her life through a basket of newspaper scraps and old photographs. Haya’s mind is sometimes delusional and sometimes crystalline as she recalls with pain and agony the trials and tribulations of the Nazi occupation of her town before and during WWII.Her graphic lament that millions of people did nothing while knowing much brings the haunting tales of the Holocaust into vivid clarity. Haya does not necessarily include herself in this group, but in her heart, she knows her family was as much to blame. Drndic uses facts and weaves them into the fabric of her story. The first several chapters are difficult to follow and I was nearly ready to throw in the towel. The story rambled around with no apparent direction while the author began to set up the plot and storyline. While this technique is unique and somewhat effective after the fact, it makes for a very strange introduction to the story. Drndic uses a very brutal descriptive style that is sometimes too much, but there are enough facts to warrant the effect. The Nazi’s were a brutal regime and the stories are sometimes ignored and they really should not be. The Holocaust was horrendous and without constant reminders, one can put that history into the back of their minds in order to compartmentalize it. Drndic will not allow that. The writing is direct and the translation seems to be “spot on”. I am only taking away one star because although the story was interesting, I was never drawn in to the main character with the empathy that would have been necessary for me to give it the highest 5 star rating. While that might seem trivial in this type of work, it is a work of fiction and as such, it should grip the reader. The story sometimes reads like nonfiction and while it is interesting, it did not engage this reader to the maximum. I wanted to finish it, but it was not a constant companion.Recommended for those that are looking for something different and also enjoy nonfiction style books.

This is not a book you love but it is a book you should read By lynne rocoff Trieste is a difficult book to read, it is history that is haunting and disturbing. Woven through the facts is Haya's narrative, which gets lost at times, but resurfaces frequently enough to keep the story moving. You can not read this book without being emotionally devastated by the 9,000 names listed - page after page of names - no commas between them - just page after page of names of the Jews who were killed in Trieste during the war. It is not a book you love, or really even like, but once you start it, it is not a book you can stop reading until you are finished.

Behind Every Name there is a Story By Roger Brunyate "Abeasis Clemente, Abeasis Ester, Abeasis Giorgio, Abeasis Rebecca [...] Zundler Henriette Cecilia, Zwirblawsky Enoc Hersch, Zylber Szaya, Zynger Jerachmil." These are the first and last of a list of around 9,000 Jews from Italy or Italian-occupied countries killed between 1943 and 1945. Forty-four pages printed in four columns of small type, they stand like a granite wall separating the first half of this book from the second. Although visually the most unusual feature in this totally extraordinary Holocaust novel, it is not the only one: there are court transcripts, poems, entries from a biographical dictionary, fragments in many languages, and even grainy photographs in the manner of WG Sebald. And names, names, names. The protagonist, though based on fact, is fictional. Haya Tesdeschi, an old woman of 83, sits in her room in Gorizia, on the border between Italy, Austria, and Croatia, and waits to meet her son, stolen from her by the Germans as a baby, 62 years before, in 1944. But the photos in the basket at her feet go back even farther, to when her parents had not yet met and Gorizia was an international spa. As she does throughout the book, Drndic paints the picture in Homeric fashion, by conjuring up names:"Ah, all the actresses, duchesses, dancers; all the poets, journalists, singers and marquises whom He gets to know and love long after his first forays to local brothels at sixteen (when He pawned His grandfather's watch); ah, Teodolinde and Clemenze, and Giselda Zucconi, and Olga Ossani; Maria Luisa Casati Stampa, amasser of exotic animals and bizarre furniture; oh, Ida Rubinstein, Isadora Duncan, the singer Olga Levi Brunner, and after her, the pianist Luisa Baccara, then the wealthy American painter Romaine Goddard Brooks, who later comes out as a lesbian; then, oh Lord, celebrated Eleanora Duse...".It goes on, the list of names, famous and forgotten, beginning as an unstoppable lyrical stream, but changing eventually to a meticulous accounting of atrocity. Haya is born, grows up, meets a charming young German soldier nicknamed "The Doll," bears his child. Meanwhile trains pass through Gorizia, trains whose schedules are notated in numbing detail. A nearby rice factory is converted as a detention center. The parade of names continues, but now they are the biographical entries of personnel from Sobibor or Treblinka, excerpts from their trials, and a note of what happened to them after the war (in most cases, nothing).Haya becomes a mathematics teacher, retires, and waits. She still amasses information, but the witnesses in the trials she now sees in her mind are mostly ghosts. The poets Elliot and Pound have more to say to her than the voices of living people. But her story is still about names. Somewhere in Germany, in the small town of Bad Arolsen to be precise, there are millions of them, archived documents that might reunite her with her son. And so the focus passes to the next generation, people who wake up one day to discover that they are the children of mass murderers. With the one exception of its central character, this is a book of facts. But facts marshalled with such variety of technique, such ingenuity, such anger, and such compassion that the book makes compelling reading from its beautiful start to an ending that, with so much purged away, has its own very different kind of beauty. A masterpiece.

I use it to prepare for the weekly quizzes in class By M Stanley Overall I like psychology and wanted a study guide that reviewed and detailed the topics needed for the AP exam. The study guide is great because it has chapters that cover all the material outlined by college board. I use the book to review and prepare for class. I like the layout of the book and think the book is well written. I use it along with my textbook and really do well on the weekly quizzes in class. Nice to do well on quizzes and understand the material we cover in class.

I use it along with my text to be sure that I identify and understand the important topics. I like the book to compare with my understanding from the text and to be sure that I don't overlook or miss anything important for class or the AP exam. It is filled with important information and is easy to read and understand. I am more engaged with class and am better prepared for quizzes.

Mann I am taking a one semester AP Psychology course fall which provides a mediocre understanding of the subject. This book is much more comprehensive than the class. I have been using the book for about a month and my understanding has skyrocketed. With the amount I learned in class I would get a 2 or possibly a 3 on the AP Exam. For the topics I covered in the book, I feet like I am an expert at AP Psychology (this may not be accurate but it is a nice feeling to get a solid foundation of the subject). The terms discussed in class now make sense. I like that the book gives a broad overview and a detailed discussion of the topic. I actually like reading the book to improve my understanding of the topic. My friends comment on how much more I seem to know recently.

By kirstyv In Moment of Time Karen Stivali takes the relationship between Collin and Tanner onto the next level, both physically and emotionally. Although being on Fire Island gives both young men the freedom to openly display their affection for one another, their summer break tests the strength of their relationship. The way in which Karen Stivali chooses to develop Collin's characters allows us to see a different side of him than the one we were shown in Moment of Impact. In the first book, I liked his innocence and empathised with the way he was treated by his family. Now, however, I found his naivety irritating and I wanted to shake him out of the funk he lands himself in.In the first book it was Tanner I was unsure of, yet on Fire Island his confidence is a little more subdued, despite the fact that he is working in a nightclub and spending time with his friends. The strength of his feelings for Collin are obvious and though certain events ask us to doubt him, I never did.As Collin and Tanner question each other, they also lose the trust of an important friend, as Fire island and its drama begin to spin its web around their lives. The freedom of the island gives Collin and Tanner an opportunity to explore their sexual relationship and Karen Stivali definitely increases the heat level of the story, but however passionate these acts are, we appreciate their context in terms of the romance.Moment of Truth is an excellent sequel, in which the characters have the time to come alive a little more. We also have the feeling that each event that has taken place will have consequences for the young men once their summer is over and I wish I had the next instalment in my hands now!*There is an excerpt of Moment of Clarity at the end of the book.*I received this as a complimentary copy, in exchange for an honest review.

The boys have been together for a while and they go to spend the summer working on Fire Island. They stay in the shared house Tanner spent the previous summer in.If we learned more about Collin’s life in Moment of Impact, Tanner’s world becomes much more clear in the second part of the story. This time the supporting characters are more deftly drawn and more fully developed. Even Collin’s family is allowed to break type and emerge as more human.Everything about this story feels more fully developed. The hot, hedonistic summer island setting is realistic enough to make me nostalgic for my own university summers. Tedious shift work, after hours clubbing, beach parties and the joys of shared houses are all carefully drawn. It was the main characters I didn’t always believe. Tanner and Collin feel oddly conservative for two newly legal gay men in such a wildly liberal environment. Tanner introduces Collin to everything sexual, but he doesn’t help him party or even play very much. And yet - Collin is wary about night clubs, but not about tattoos? I’m not sure either character was very believable in the environment they were living in.Again, both stories together are only the length of a short novel, so it is difficult to understand why they are being sold as two separate books. I would have preferred them as part one and part two of the same book, saving readers a second purchase. So yes, this was a more engaging story than the first. It is more complex and is without the editing errors present through the first. It is a simple young adult story about finding an adult identity, holding on to a relationship and becoming independent.I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.Sarah

By Maria Rose This is the second story for Collin and Tanner, first introduced in Moment of Impact (which ended on a happy note and can be read as a standalone). Summer has come and Tanner has invited Collin to come with him to Fire Island, a resort area, to work for the summer. It's a different place than Collin has ever been before, one where being gay isn't a big deal and they are able to spend time together while earning money for the next year of college. But being out of the closet still isn't that easy for Collin, and Tanner's bisexuality is also worrisome to him, with the number of attractive girls who see Tanner as the prize they want too. Will the summer bring them closer together or tear them apart?I loved this story! Even if you haven't read the first part of their story, it would be easy to dive right into this one as it's easy to get right into the story as Collin and Tanner start their summer together. I thought it was a really smooth read, keeping me interested from the first page as they head to Fire Island, get jobs there and go about the business of really learning how to trust and rely on each other. Their attraction to each other has only gotten stronger and leads to several sexy, tender and emotional love scenes that cement their feelings. But at the same time, there are other players in the game, attractive young twenty something's who are equally as interested in Collin and Tanner and like any new relationship, their insecurities for their new found relationshhip can sometimes be overwhelming. I thought all of their emotional experiences were really realistic and although the story is told only from Collin's point of view, Tanner's thoughts are equally represented. He's the stronger one in their couple, secure in his feelings for Collin. It's Collin who is dealing with showing his feelings for Tanner while still being unsure of how to behave publicly. Overall, I found this very entertaining, lighthearted and sexy with a good dose of sweet romance too. 5 stars.

I bought this book for my husband and myself to read, but instead gave it to my 13-year-old son who struggles with loneliness and depression. He is an exceptionally bright child with a genius IQ level, but fitting in with his peers is a challenge. Frequently, he prefers to hide in his room and read his physics books, study chemistry, and practice math all day long as opposed to getting out and socializing. It is a blessing to be so gifted, but often times children like my kiddo struggle with existential crises and sometimes wonder what the meaning of life is a little too much especially in today's pop culture. I share that only to express what a game changer reading this book has been for my son's mood. He began reading it 2 days ago and the first 100 pages he complained that it was repetitive. Then, yesterday that all changed and he couldn't put the book down. He started coming to me and hugging me and telling me he loved me, which was a surprise and a big deal for him especially at this age considering I'm "Mom"; but also because he has Aspie traits and has a thing about not wanting to be touched. My son has 50 pages left to read, and he says he cannot wait to finish it. He wants more books like this. More importantly, my son seems...okay...and is learning to feel okay with life in a way I have not quite seen before. He is coming out of his room. He is talking more. It is a good response and much better than I expected.A pastor who has the ability to make this big of an impression through a book on my skeptical kid deserves to be checked into. I look forward to reading the book myself, and if possible I will try to make an update. Suffice it to say for now, however, this book earns 5 stars for helping me to be a conduit of hope and love for my child.

I Am Victorious…good will find me By Mary Gramlich In a world filled with you cannot, you are not, you will not, here is Joel Osteen to tell you that you absolutely can, should, and will. The power is inside you to be positive and believe that every day you are considered one of God’s miracles. You have to believe in yourself so that others will see you shine and understand that everything about you is unique and perfectly laid out by a master plan designed before you were conceived.Ask yourself what is holding you back and preventing the blessings to come upon you and the answer is always, yourself. Mr. Osteen one word at a time shows you how to release that negativity and find a way to stop talking just long enough to listen to great words coming into your head. Greatness is just waiting to happen for you and by accepting that you are able to take it in amazing things will happen, you just have to believe. You just have to use the power inside you that says “I AM” strong enough, smart enough, and accomplished enough to obtain the wonders that life can bestow upon me.We do so much talking about what should happen vs. what is happening making it difficult to see the great plan that is ahead of us waiting to absorb our lives with joy and the spirit of peace. Be blessed, be great, and every day be sure that “I AM” are words you will always use.In addition to this wonderful, life altering book there is a book mark inside the front cover that you can carry with you every moment of your day to remind you that “I AM” is your new mantra for living

I am and have been aware of the power of I AM for several years now and have applied it steadily in my own life ever since and without a doubt it has transformed my life in so many ways. I have also listened to Joel's sermon on I AM which is available online. I HIGHLY recommend Joel's book or any other books on the Power of I AM. It is a life transforming experience to those that apply it. I am very happy to add Joel's book to my own personal library. The Power of I Am
