It’s not easy to be a highly sensitive child. Nor is it always easy to raise, care for, guide and teach a highly sensitive child. Because the highly sensitive child experiences the world a little differently, and that can be difficult to understand. This book aims to help you experience the world from the child’s perspective, so that you can better understand them and help them to grow and thrive. In this simple, concise guide I distil the reams of information available on the highly sensitive child so that you can get the knowledge you need quickly and easily. Foreword from Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D. author of the worldwide bestsellers The Highly Sensitive Person and The Highly Sensitive Child: "As the author of this truly brilliant little book, Jamie Williamson explains that he is not an academic or a psychologist. I am simply a man who feels very passionately about the subject. He is highly sensitive and so is one of his daughters, and he writes about sensitivity with both simplicity and depth. His sensitivity also shows in his book’s briefness. Caregivers of children need an author to get to the point so they can go get groceries, pick up the kids etc. Jamie’s book can be read in an hour, yet it has charming examples as well as great suggestions and a full, scientifically accurate description of the trait. Jamie is reaching out to all parents, carers and teachers of sensitive children and whether through this book or on his website, he is a wonderful resource."

Understanding the Highly Sensitive Child: Seeing an Overwhelming World through Their Eyes, by Jamie Williamson

About the Author A little about me...... I'm not an academic. I'm not a psychologist. I'm simply a man who is very, very passionate about the subject because: I have a highly sensitive daughter. High sensitivity has a massive impact on my family's life, and coming to understand the trait has transformed our lives - for the better. Before we understood high sensitivity we were bumbling about in the dark; now we're in the light.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Easy read, which is good because most people who pick it up are probably at their wits end and need help fast! By ET The only thing that kept me from giving this book a 5 star is there are quite a few grammatical errors. It seems to have been written in haste with no editing. I read this book because I had an impending crisis upon my hand. It was recommended by a therapist who said that my son fit the criteria of a Highly Sensitive Child. I could not believe how much of this book was exactly about my son. I am grateful for the reference and having read it, I can now say, "I get it," when my child is acting out. We are not free from breakdowns, but I understand where he's coming from and it has made me more patient and less harsh with him. This is a quick and easy read for any caregiver of a Highly Sensitive Child. It will open your eyes and show you the world from their perspective-just like the title states. When you understand, you react differently, and can look for the signs of a breakdown before it is upon you, thereby giving you the opportunity to ward it off.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Must-have By OrganicMom This isn't a complete description of a Highly Sensitive Child, but it isn't meant to be. It is a brief description with examples. This is a great book to hand to family members, friends, teachers, and caregivers of an HSC. This will be enough to open their minds to what is going on with the child. I also recommend The Highly Sensitive Child, which the author of this book recommends as well to further your knowledge. I recommend both books and consider both to be must-haves for a parent of a highly sensitive child.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good supplemental read. By Blythe H Evans I still had my child go through tests and I had a child psychologist really do a proper assessment before I can say that I have a special child. But this book is a good help if you want to understand them more.

Best Ebook Online Sweet Hope (Sweet Home Series Book 4), by Tillie Cole

From the USA TODAY Bestselling Sweet Home Series, comes Sweet Hope. My name is Ally Prince and I've always been unlucky in love. I don’t know why, I just always… have. When all of my best friends were falling for their soul mates in College, I was left behind. I was Ally, the pretty cousin of superstar quarterback, Romeo Prince. I was Ally, the best friend to the most amazing group of girls I've ever known—a title I loved, but one I became tired of 'just' being. And I was Ally, the one on which they could all rely. But to me, I was Ally, the girl with the heart no one had claimed... And I was, Ally, the girl, who underneath it all, was heart-breakingly lonely. I LOVE love; the thought of it, the nervous excitement of falling for Mr. Right, the desire of someone becoming my entire world... of me becoming theirs. I’ve always wanted passion, heart-stopping, epic, life-changing romance... I’ve always wanted the fairytale… I’ve always wanted it all. It just never seemed like I would get it. For the past few years I've thrown myself into my career as a museum curator. I’m the best of the best, the person every museum wants to hire, so when an opportunity came up to move to Seattle, I jumped at the chance. My cousin and my best friend lived in Seattle and I needed a change. I needed a new beginning. I wasn't expecting to meet anyone in the Emerald City. I wasn't expecting to work closely with the reclusive new sculptor my all-important gallery design was centered around. And I certainly wasn't expecting to fall for him... heart-stopping, epic, life-changing love... My real life fairytale come true. But, like in every fairytale, there’s a villain, a dark and tortured soul... I just didn't know that the villain and the hero in my story would end up being one and the same. New Adult/Contemporary Romance Novel—contains adult content, sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up. Please note that this novel CANNOT be read as a standalone novel. SWEET FALL must be read first.

She makes her way right to the top of my favorites list with every beautiful, emotional and stunning story she tells. Her writing is completely captivating and her stories move me like no other. I really thought there was no way any of the ‘Sweet Home’ books could compare to Sweet Fall for me. That book is so special and will always hold a place in my heart. I can happily say that this book was just as good as Sweet Fall. Just as beautiful, just as heart wrenching and just as moving. It wrecked me in the best possible way.Ally Prince is now an art curator. It’s her dream job. And she just got the opportunity of a lifetime. To work with an artist that moves her. That she’s admired for a long time. For Elpidio.Elpi is a man who’s made a lot of mistakes. He’s a broken hero. He’s trying to make changes in his life. Trying to redeem himself for the things he’s done in his past. He’s not sure if he can ever really make up for the wrong doings in his life, but he’s trying. He expresses his pain, his guilt, and all the things from his past he wants to remember and wants to forget through his sculptures. When he decides to show them, he wants it to be anonymous, hence the name Elpi. He never wants anyone to see him or know him as Elpi. But Ally does. She works her way in.Give me a broken boy, a damaged man and I am a happy reader. Elpi is so broken from his past. He has so much darkness he just wants to be free of. He wants to move on with his life and get over the things that have happened but becoming free from your past is not an easy task. He’s been living in darkness for so long. But now that Ally is in his life, now that he’s finally connected to someone for the first time in years, he has some light in the darkness. Some hope.
I loved the broken hero in this story, but I’m going to just take a moment and completely gush over this heroine. Ally Prince is someone special. She is strong, she is sweet, she is compassionate and she see’s beyond the exterior. She sees the person Elpi is within. She is able to make him see his worth when no one else in the world can. She is able to pull him out of this darkness for a while. She made my heart happy. I love this heroine so much. She is the absolute best.Sweet Hope is a gorgeous romance, but it is so much more than that. It’s a story of healing. Of guilt, forgiveness, moving forward and acceptance. It’s a story of hope. This is a story that touched my heart. It’s been days since I’ve read and I can’t get it off my mind. I can’t wait for everyone else to read and really ‘meet’ Ally and Elpi. Yes, you see them in the other 3 books, but you don’t really know either of them. How beautiful their hearts are and the people they really are.Sweet Hope is not a standalone. You should (at least) read Sweet Fall before you read this. If not the entire series. Trust me, they are worth while reads. This is a series that is just fantastic. I love all the books so much. I loved reading this and seeing all my favorite characters from the previous books. It made me so happy to see them all together and thriving.I feel like I’m writing my own little book here so I’ll wrap it up. If you haven’t read this series read it! And as soon as you do READ THIS BOOK! Another stunning story going to the top of my favorites list!

7 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Tillie Saved the Best for Last By Alycia Marie Tillie Cole has done it again. But even better. How? I have no effing clue but she did! I just....her words are utter perfection! They are good and dark and hurt and light and pain and sorrow and love all mixed into one.A book has never made me feel more complete. I don't know how I ever lived without these words and this story! Without these characters and their love. This book, this book is everything! It's good and bad and love and hate and light and dark. It's all Tillie is and more. It's all she is as an author and a person rolled into this one book! It is so so bittersweet to read these last words of the Sweet Home Series. I truly never wanted this series to end. These characters are an extension of my life, my heart, my soul. My heart both hurts and feels lighter. Ally and Elpi are perfection in words.I hurt, broke, cried, and got angry. The guilt Elpi carried, the shame, shattered my entire being. The injustice of how people looked upon him made me so angry. But darn it he is good. He's so good. I love him. I truly love him.I laughed, loved, and healed. The love between Ally and Elpi is so fierce and deep, eternal and finite, that my heart melted to a puddle. Ally is so sweet, as is Elpi in his own way. He's gruff and gritty, but his heart is pure and good. Together they are passion and fire and love and light. They are everything. They are lightning and heat. Ally I just wanted to wrap her up and hug her. Tell her that love was around the corner. That her deep soul and fiery love would soon be needed. I could talk about Elpi all day. He is true perfection. He is art!I truly feel complete and whole. Sweet Hope has brought me healing and hope. Elpi and Ally are lightning. They are fierce and passionate and fire. Their chemistry and connection lifted off the pages. The passion, it lit up my kindle like no other! I was wrecked and shattered. I hurt and was pained. I got angry and cried. But I was healed and whole and loved and laughed and feel so warm and light inside.I wish I could be more coherent and more expressive with my words. But I am speechless! I really don't know how to adequately explain this book, these words, how I felt, how in love I am with Elpi, how I want to be Ally's best friend. All of it. This book came full circle for me. But I really don't want it to end. It's so bittersweet. This is a must read for Tillie Cole. Everyone needs to read Sweet Hope. Take your time, let it consume you. Let the emotion, the hurt and the love and the agony and the passion, let it roll through you. Take it all in and feel it all. It is an experience of a lifetime.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A beautiful, gut-wrenching, and touching reading experience By Misha Review originally posted at The Book Enthusiast: http://thebookenthusiast.net/sweet-hope-by-tillie-cole.Tillie Cole has the ability to turn me into a sobbing, emotional mess with just a few sentences. I have adored every book in the Sweet Home series and become deeply invested in each of the characters. Austin and Lexi’s story in Sweet Fall, which must be read before Sweet Hope, broke my heart, so I was steeling myself for what was to come with Ally’s book. I knew I would cry, but I had absolutely no idea how this story would move me. Ally and Elpidio’s journey was an amazingly beautiful, gut-wrenching, and touching experience that blew me away.Sweet Hope brings Ally to Seattle to curate an exhibition for the elusive sculptor Elpidio. While she is excited for this new career opportunity and to be closer to her friends, she is lonely. Ally never expects the connection she feels when she meets the secretive and tortured sculptor. Elpidio is a broken soul who expresses his deep pain and sorrow through his art. He doesn’t believe he is worthy of even an ounce of happiness, but he can’t deny the relief and comfort that comes with Ally’s true understanding of him and his work.Ally was hands down my favorite heroine of this series. I was in awe of her passion for her job and the way she internalized the beauty and depth of every piece of art. Elpidio’s work came to life for me through her eyes. Just like with her career, Ally gave her entire heart and soul to Elpidio once she found herself falling for him. Her compassion and belief in him were inspiring. She was truly the light to his dark, and she never once wavered in her love and support of him. Ally was strong, loyal, and above all else had the courage to follow her heart.I have quite possibly never come across a hero as tortured as Elpidio. He was a man tormented by his sorrow. The way he took his pain and harnessed it into his sculptures was both devastating and powerful. Haunted by the demons of his past and what his actions had done to his family, Elpidio felt he deserved nothing good, especially not the love of a woman like Ally. She understood him in a way no one else did, though, and her acceptance of him soothed his soul. He clearly worshipped her, and their passionate bond ran deep despite Elpidio’s lack of self-worth.Elpidio’s true identity was purposefully left a mystery for the reader to discover, and I have to say that I loved that aspect. I found myself eagerly awaiting the reveal and when it came I couldn’t wait to see how his story would unfold. The emotions in this story radiated off the pages. Elpidio’s grief was heart-breaking. While I had a deep respect for how he took full responsibility for his actions, the truth was that he did everything for those he loved. He was drowning in so much self-loathing that I found myself wanting to curl up in a ball and cry for him.I loved watching how vulnerable Elpidio was with Ally and his family. Despite the mistakes of his past, I never once doubted that he was a good man who deserved happiness and a future. The way Ally loved him and fought for him in the face of all obstacles was beautiful. She believed in him when he couldn’t. Ally gave Elpidio hope when he had none. I don’t think I could have possibly loved her more than I did. It was immensely gratifying to watch Elpidio leave the shadows of his tragic past and attempt to forge a new life.Sweet Hope stole my heart, plain and simple. Ally and Elpidio’s story was tumultuous and difficult to read at times, but it was truly an incredible tale of hope, love, and forgiveness. It was wonderful to spend time with the rest of the characters in this series and see them living their happily ever afters. I am sad to see this series come to an end, but Tillie Cole did a phenomenal job of wrapping it up in a powerful and moving way. Her books, full of gorgeous and heartfelt writing, come with my highest recommendation. Sweet Hope is most certainly no exception.

I waited until the weekend to read it at my leisure. It was great. Taking place a month after the end of the first book this is a really nice wrap up of the story about the brave Alpha bucking tradition and his courageous Omega & new stepson. If you enjoyed the first book you will definitely like what happens next. The little family are really enjoying their life together. The pack, even those who were upset about the Omega exiled from an enemy pack bonding with their Alpha, had finally accepted the new Alpha Mate as well as his young son. Favorite secondary characters make an appearance, in particular the Alpha's best friend/Beta, Nathan and Marie who helped him so much with the little guy who would become his stepson. There is a big lack of communication between the MCs. They have the same concerns and fears about their new relationship and their futures as fathers. Even little Matthew had a problem communicating with his Dads. This is a cute family drama just long enough to give you a nice update on the goings on of our favorite couple and kid or rather cub. And yes there is a pregnancy in this story :0). Happy reading!

Love Grows By Amazon Customer I love the follow-up to Derek and Caleb’s story! They are learning/loving each other and discovering things about themselves that they previously didn’t know. In this story the POV of each person has been removed. And while I loved having each POV in the first book the story has progressed to a point that it’s no longer needed to make the story complete.Matthew continues to be a critical part of the story as he adjusts to his new life within the pack and being in a safe and loving environment. His reactions and observations in the story are both heart-warming and heart-breaking at different points.Without giving too many spoilers this is a story of a family that learns to accept that they are strong and that change can be beautiful.I received an ARC of the story in exchange for an honest review.

You get to see the inner workings of the trio family as they experience the joy and wonder of bringing a new pup into the family. You get to see the highs of the new excitement of a pregnancy and the lows of a sibling worrying about his place in the family. This is a great work by Alex that let's you see a more in depth view of a great family and werewolf pack! Worth the read!!

Fractured Fairytales By Book Gannet I really enjoyed this short story, it’s interesting and clever and I never knew what fairytale it would reference next. There’s magic and mystery as well as a touch of romance, as Adamina sets about discovering first what’s been stealing the women and children from Edge village and then how to stop it.I really liked the magic of the Huntresses and how the magic connected Adamina to the forest, as well as her use of blood magic for good purposes. I have to admit I’d have loved if this had been longer because I found almost everything about it so curious and constantly wanted to know more – about the Red and White Queens, about the wolves, about Adamina herself and how she trained to be a Huntress, and pretty much everything else that was mentioned – but considering the short length of this tale the pacing is good.Okay, so perhaps some things are dealt with a little too swiftly, the flirting tended to crop up at random moments, and I’d have really, really loved to have known more about why the plant was so deadly, but on the whole this was great. The mix of original fantasy with traditional fairytales was fun as well as clever, making instant world-building connections without taking up too much text. In all this was a great addition the the Damsels in Distress collection and I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this author.(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)

Cleverly blended fairy tales retold in an erotic quest By La Crimson Femme Cleverly blended fairy tales retold in an erotic quest is quite impressive. New to me author, Ms. Derr is one I will want to read more of because her writing style is alluring and erotic. In BROKEN FOREST, Adamina is a Huntress. She is gifted with the power to help right the wrongs. When she is called to save women and girls who have been kidnapped into the Broken Forest, she bites off more than she can chew. What I liked about this story is how fairy tales of old are blended together and reformed into an interesting new world. One can only hope Ms. Derr will write more in this world. The teasing hints of Adamina's parents beg for another story. Learning more about Adamina would also be delightful. There does seem to be a sly tongue in cheek humour in this book. Because it feels like Ms. Derr is writing to a specific audience who know her inside jokes. I felt as though I kept missing something important and that it is just outside of my reach in comprehension. From a character perspective, Adamina and her lady love, Grete are straightforward. There isn't much character development. Adamina is an interesting "female" and this one piece I'm not sure I really understood. It came out of left field for me and I'm okay with it because Adamina's type of female is my ultimate wet dream. She's the best of both worlds. The real focus is the plot and the quest-like journey. The way Ms. Derr blends in Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast and Rapunzel is delightful. The obstacles thrown in Adamina's way are not easily conquered and this makes it better for me. The slight plot twist did throw me a little and I liked it. This erotic tale will keep a reader's attention from page one. Recommended for fairy-tale retold kinky readers who enjoy Sapphic delights.* Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.

The Broken Forest is a very dark sort of twist on the traditional fairy tale, exploring not so much the archetype by the consequences of it. Megan Derr has crafted a powerful fantasy about two powerful women, each of them outsiders in their own way, facing off against the remnants of the Rapunzel tale. In this case, however, it's a much darker fairy tale, one of madness, murder, tragedy, and lingering horrors. To say much more than that would be to spoil the story, but it's a twist that's both innovative and powerful. While I hesitate to call this a feminist fairy tale, only because of the political connotations that term holds for some, it is most definitely a story of strong women and gender roles. Adamina is a huntress, a dark-skinned, red-eyed warrior who sacrificed herself to the magic of her destiny, serving as protector and defender of the forests within the kingdom. She's the kind of woman villagers summon when there's no other hope, but only with great fear and reservation. Her kind aren't particularly liked, but they are respected for their power. Grete, on the other hand, is a more traditional witch, a woman who lives in the forest, crafting small talismans and performing minor acts of healing for those in need. Witches are no more liked and no less feared than the Huntresses, with the prejudices and fears of the villagers slowly erasing them from the world. The partnership between Huntress and Witch is wonderful because it works on so many levels. Here are two powerful women, born of magic, who are outcasts to the villagers of the woods. Both have a connection to the forest, and a responsibility to care for it and everything in it. Grete, as it turns out, also has a deeper connection to the monsters of the tale, owing to her role in the Rapunzel tale, while Adamina is the only woman who can soothe the poisoned, maddened beasts, coming as she does from a magically significant family. Finally, this is a wonderfully gender positive and sexually diverse tale that doesn't make a big deal about it. Adamina is transgender, but it's neither a problem nor an issue worthy of note. It's simply part of her character. Derr makes an offhand reference to her genitalia early on, and notes the flatness of her chest when Grete is bandaging a wound, but it's of far less note than her red eyes. Similarly, the budding romance between Adamina and Grete is neither celebrated for being unique nor condemned for being unusual. It's just a friendship with sexual undertones that brings the two women together, and which drives our happily ever after.All-in-all, The Broken Forest is just a lovely tale, the perfect blend of fantasy, horror, and romance, with two wonderful heroines. I do hope Derr continues with the theme and explores more of her fairy tale world.Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.

Here is a tale of murder, intrigue, romance and danger on the high seas as our heroine, Anna, and her family sail from London to New York on a ship called "Fame." This is the third book of the series of historical novels of the great Palatine migration of 1710. The first book,"Winter's Wrath," followed them from Germany to Amsterdam and the second, "Charity's Chains," from Amsterdam to their extended stay in London. Now it's time to come aboard and read as Anna and her fellow passengers endure and prevail over "Fame's Fate."

Historical facts were woven into her story, making it one of thebest books on the trials and tribulations of the 1710 Palatines voyage to America.

The third in the series of the Palatine Journey proved to be as interesting not only from the personal perspective of the characters, but the historical details about the hardships these brave people underwent in preparation for and their journey to America. I learned so much and look forward to the fourth book in this series. The transition from each book is easy as the stories unfold in such a way as to keep the reader in touch with the characters and circumstances. I highly recommend this series of books for any one interested in historical fiction.

"Romantic and real and sexy, Before I Fall is an emotional ride that grabs hold and doesn't let go." ~ Kristen Callihan, USA Today Bestselling author of The HookupI thought I could do this. I thought I could leave the war behind.I was wrong. I can't do this. I can't go to class and pretend like everything is normal. That I'm normal. I'm not. I've lost everything that matters to me. But I made a promise. And if I'm going to keep that promise, I have to focus. I have to pretend that I belong on this southern campus that drips with old money. And I have to pass stats. That's where Beth comes in.I'm terrified she'll see through me. That the careful liesand easy smile won't be enough to convince her that everything is fine. That she'll see how broken I really am.But there's something about her that draws me closer. Asadness in her eyes that am powerless to resist.I should walk away. Protect her from the broken, darkness inme. Before we both fall into something neither of us can controlStay focused. Get a job. Save her father's life.Beth Lamont knows far too much about the harsh realities of life her gilded classmates have only read about in class. She'll do whatever it takes to take care of her father, even if that means tutoring a guy like Noah - a guy who represents everything she hates about the war, soldiers and what the Army has done to her family.Noah Warren doesn't know how to be a student. All he knows is war. But he's going to college now to fulfill a promise and he doesn't break his promises. Except he doesn't count on his tutor being drop dead gorgeous and distracting as hell. One look at Beth threatens to unravel the careful lies Noah has constructed around him.A simple arrangement turns into something neither of them can deny. And a war that neither of them can forget could destroy them both.

14 of 15 people found the following review helpful. fantastic, beautiful romance! By mandy This beautiful story took me completely by surprise. Beth has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She's in school, works, takes care of her injured vet father and tutors. She's barely hanging on, trying to find help for her dad who can't get the help he needs through the VA. Noah returns to college after being injured in the war. He has secrets and demons and he struggles every day. The chemistry between these characters is pretty amazing from the beginning. What really surprised me about this book was the level of emotions I felt while reading this. My heart really broke for both Beth and Noah and the struggles they both were going through but at the same time, this was such a gorgeous love story. Beth and Noah are the type of couple you really root for. Noah is so damaged but he has such a good heart. He's a really good guy who suffered through something awful and is just trying to survive day to day (side note - he's also not a manwhore! YAY!.) Beth is selfless and you really just want to see her catch a break. Big props to the author in the writing of this book because I really did not want to put this down, it's fast-paced and engaging from the first page and I can't wait to read more by this author. I'm really looking forward to more books in this series! I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance!

Recently it seems quite a few have fallen into my lap though. THIS book is the ONLY one that got it right. It's obvious the author is a vet. She knows her stuff. She talks the talk, and it all comes from an authentic place of knowing what's what.I don't have to congratulate her on getting it right, because she's lived it, so of course she knows what to write. I do have to tell people, if you are looking for a good military romance - this is it. If you're looking for one that blends the romance with the military (vet) reality this is absolutely it. Don't get sucked in by the imposters that gloss over the life with complete crap that they made up. The realism entwined with the fantasy makes it that much more relatable and maybe even allow you to leave the book with a better understanding for what's really going on in our society. Before I fall has superbly developed characters, a fantastic plot, and heart wrenchingly real detail that adds a layer of depth to the book that is missing in a lot of others that are out there today.

In this story of a war veteran who goes to college to hopefully make sense of his life, Noah bites off more than he ever dreamed of when he had to be tutored in statistics, by a star student, Beth. The characters of this book are real...very believable. I found myself empathizing with Beth's Dad's situation. While this is a great story, I felt the characters and story line could have had more depth and would have loved to heard more about Dad's experience with war...maybe developed something between the two men to help one another with the struggles in their respective lives.
