7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Great sports romance series. By Michelle@Book Briefs Perfect Game is the fourth book in the Adult sports romance series, Night Games. The series each focuses on a different player on the baseball team, the New York Kings. Perfect Game focuses on Scott, who is a notorious womanizer. At this point, I am thinking that practically all the New York Kings are. The books are each complete standalones, but I will warn you that this one picks up right in the middle of a scene so it feels like you are initially missing something, but you aren’t. That is just the way the book starts, but don’t worry, once you get past those first two scenes everything starts to make sense and you get backstory. As a side note Perfect Game and the whole series is really an adult sports romance series, but it straddles the line between New Adult and adult because of the age of a few of the characters.What I liked about Scott’s story was that it felt very natural. Scott doesn’t do commitment for his own reasons and while he stuck by that for a while he still couldn’t get Carrie out of his head, so they kept hanging out. The funny thing to me was that Scott still felt like he wasn’t committing when it was clear as day that he was. But anyway, the story is not without its ups and downs and roadblocks for the maybe happy pair. But throughout it all Carrie and Scott were a hoot and a half. I really loved their chemistry and their back and forth biting banter and bickering. They sure could keep each other on their toes. But they were sweet too. One of my favorite scenes was when Scott and Carrie were out at their first dinner and the waitress makes some kind of comment about Carrie getting a healthier dinner, and boy did she put her in her place. And Scott totally backed her up and then Carrie thanked him for having her back. I don’t know why but I just thought that moment was great.I love the winning formula that Collette West has with this series. The New York Kings are a great group of well developed (heh-heh) guys and each one of their stories is wonderful. I think Collette West really captures the world-wind universe of sports and sports players perfectly. This book is another home run in the series. Faltys As a fan of sports-themed romances I've quickly come to count on Ms. West's baseball series for its perfect balance of love and vividly depicted sports action. Her characters are relatable with journeys to HEA that are richly rewarding. Through each book each ball player has left me with a smile on my face, but from his very first appearance in this series I've been enamored of the sweet playboy with a heart of gold, Scott Harper, like no other. Perfect Game is his turn to step up to the plate and from start to finish it held me captivated.Scott has always been seen as the pretty boy of the team, a player afraid to commit, and on some level that's true. He's a sexy man who's had his fair share of women but he makes no excuses for his actions. He may think himself incapable of relationships but slowly but surely he and sports reporter Carrie start making a connection that surprises both of them. Readers though won't be surprised by the instant and combustible connection between the two of them. From witty banter to steamy sexual interludes their interactions crackle and put a smile on my face. Scott's a man with surprising depth. Far from just a pretty boy he's an amazing athlete seeking to break a record. Through everything he's always been there for his teammates to help them realize true love when it's staring them in the face, which made his journey to HEA all the more entertaining. He never let Carrie doubt his devotion and through every word and deed showed exactly how he felt about her which had me fall even more in love with him.Carrie was a likable and strong-willed heroine dealing with doubts familiar to most women. She too was judged for her looks and was often found lacking. Her rich family also tended to judge her but with Scott she was always made to feel important and cherished. Even as she stuck up for herself, she had Scott there to back her up which made them a formidable and entertaining pair.From start to finish this was an entertaining story with lots of witty and playful banter between Scott and Carrie that was teeming with sexual tension. Love caught both of them off-guard and their battle to keep falling deeper in love made for a fun journey to HEA. There was a nice balance between interactions in and out of the bedroom with each interlude full of sexual intensity. Ms. West also interspersed vividly depicted ball playing that made you feel part of the roaring crowd. Seeing old favorites amongst the players, along with new favorites, reminded me of why I adore this series and gives me even more excitement for the future. These boys of summer are compelling with very unique personalities, and with the next story supposedly about the VERY bad boy Drake, I anticipate this series becoming even more memorable. No matter what though, Scott will always be my favorite. His sweet, sexy, and playful nature puts a smile on my face even now! Those looking for an immensely romantic and fast-paced series of books will be drawn to these boys of summer and now's as good a time as any to jump on this bandwagon.

Being a HUGE baseball fan this series is right up my alley. Ms. West has an amazing way to pull you into the story going into perfect baseball details. Perfect Game is by far the best read in the series. So many elements brought this one together. Scott and Carrie, Alex and Bobby, Bobby's story alone is heartbreaking and lets not forget all the drama surrounding the Kings.Scott Harper has to be one of my favorites. He is the true meaning of a bad boy. He's a mega star on the field and a ladies man in the bedroom. His being gorgeous doesn't hurt to draw all the ladies to him. When someone hacks his phone posting all his private naked photos of both him and all his celebrity hook ups. The scandal brings the Kings and Scott under unneeded stress."Sorry, sweetheart, but you're not gonna change me. It's no secret that I'm a love-'em-and-leave-'em kinda guy. It's just how I operate."Carrie McKenzie is the clubhouse reporter for the Kings. Carrie's not blind to how good looking Scott really is and after he showers a teammate with Gatorade during a post game interview getting Carrie soaked in the process, Carrie falls to his charming ways. After their night together will there be a repeat?Can she give it all up and tame the bad boy? Can he turn into a one woman man for her?This is one of those reads I don't ever want to end. I love Bobby's story and hope we get to see more of him in future books. March was a great release time on this one. I happened to be reading this while watching Grapefruit league games making this a perfect companion seeing as Perfect Game starts during the Kings Spring training.*Wicked Reads Review Team*
