Chloe has one plan for the future, and one plan only: the road. She’s made a promise to herself: don’t let anyone in, and don’t let anyone love her. She’s learned the hard way what happens if she breaks her rules. So she’s focused on being invisible and waiting until she can set out on the road—her dream of freedom, at least for a little while.
Blake Hunter is a basketball star who has it all—everything about him looks perfect to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can’t let anyone see the shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will disappear.
One dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she’s focused on it. But when the so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes with love, no one knows where the road may lead.

If no one cares about her, she won't loose someone else. She is ready to hit the road as soon as she graduates. She has dreamed of the day she can get in her car and just go. Her foster parents know they can't keep her with them. The Road is all Chloe wants.Blake Hunter is still deciding what to do with his life. He can join the military like his father or he can pursue a basketball scholarship at Duke's University.A collision between Chloe and Blake changes their future forever.“Sometimes the wrong path can lead us to the right road. And toward the greatest thing that will ever happen to us.”If you have never read a book by Jay McLean, you are missing out. Her stories are powerful. I recommend keeping tissues close to you because I know she will make you feel.Chloe and Blake's love story is all about caring for someone deeply enough to open up to them and changing your solitary life goal to making it a couple's choice. There is pain, laughter, loss and love throughout the journey. It's still a journey you don't want to miss.“You can run, you can hide, you can choose not to see, but where the road takes you will always lead to me.”4.5/5 Fangs

Admittedly, after the More Than Series I would probably follow this adorable Aussie writer anywhere, but that's besides the point. This journey was different. She painted my world red. (Read the book and you'll know what I mean.) And Blake and Chloe painted my world red. As did Josh, Tommy, Dean, Mary and Mrs. Hunter. This journey began with Blake Hunter. Blake is unlike any other high school senior jock I have ever read about. He's honest. He's real and he's truth. What does that mean? Well, he's going through a major turning point. Which way should he turn? Which life direction should he follow? Does he have any idea which path would make the most sense? He doesn't. So he runs. Literally. It's his escape. An escape that would change him forever. It was interesting to me, that I fell so hard for Blake. I love a good jock just as much as the next girl, but he was different. He's loyal, he's hot (which of course helps), he's funny, he's a wordsmith, "You look extra beautiful today." ... but above all that, he's truly a genuinely KIND person. There were several times I honestly found myself thinking "Don't take the high road, Blake!" But he's a good guy. He is better than that. For that, he's one of the most perfect boys to read about - he's a guy I would want to be my sons' friend - and that, my friends, says it all.Chloe Thompson, sweet Chloe. She's such a broken and scared soul. She's been through enough junk in her life at a young age that she SHOULD be jaded. If she wasn't, I would think there was something missing in her make up. I didn't fall in love with her immediately. I felt for her, I wanted to wrap her in a hug but I didn't love her. Chloe has lived through a life experience that has caused her to live her life differently than most high school senior girls. She's not about clothes, Facebook, making it to the hot parties. "I have the now." Is her motto. She doesn't even want to be noticed. She likes to float through the halls invisible. As much as she'd like to fight it, she knew there was a change coming.Blake and Chloe's relationship is anything but standard. It's about finding someone who understands you, doesn't judge you or try to make you be who they want you to be. Their relationship is about friendship, understanding and exactly what the other person needed.I fell so hard for Josh! Oh he was such an amazing secondary character. Dean, Mary - LOVED them! They were so hilarious and kind. Oh and Mrs. Hunter! "Get a hair cut, Blake. You look like a gigolo." Where the Road Takes Me, by Jay McLean
