Make The Shift to Carb Cycling Easily with This Book!

The Carb Cycling Weight Loss diet may sound so daunting, but it is a fairly easy concept to understand.

Carb is just short for carbohydrates, now wait a minute before you jump into various misconceptions about carbs. I know that many diets out there push you to deprive your body of carbs in order to lose weight, however this is a very evil misconception.

In fact, depriving your body of carbs can make you lose weight–short term; but long term? NO! Your metabolism eventually slows down, until it eventually halts. If you re-introduce carbs back into the diet, your carb-famished body will rebound and ultimately hold on to the sugar and water, thinking that soon it will be deprived of carbohydrates again.

So, before you disregard the carb cycling weight loss diet, get your facts straight first—even the widely believed idea that the Earth was flat, was after all, eventually proven to be false.

So, what are you getting from this book?

  • First you will be introduced to the carb cycling diet, what it is all about, the premise behind the diet, and the scientific facts that prove why the diet is good, dependable, reliable, healthy, and true.
  • You will get to know the various hormones in your body that help you lose weight and how they play a role in the carb cycling diet.
  • You will also be taught how to go on a carb cycling diet, with specific guidelines to follow. The book also includes tips and tricks that you can use to make the shift to this diet easier.
  • And lastly, there are over a dozen recipes included in this book with its equivalent of carbohydrate content (in grams) per serving of the recipe. This will make it easy for you to follow your carb intake for the day.

Get this book - and get started with your carb cycling diet.

“Shocking, emotional, and punctuated by moments of brutal savagery, SLOWLY WE ROT contains some of the most frightening scenes in recent horror fiction. If you enjoy zombie stories, you’ll love this book. If you believe there’s no life left in the zombie subgenre, Bryan Smith is about to prove you wrong. SLOWLY WE ROT is a searing, stunning triumph.” --Jonathan Janz, author of The Nightmare Girl and Savage Species Long after the zombie apocalypse wiped out most of the human race, a young man named Noah resides in a remote mountain cabin. Several years have passed since he last saw another human being. The long period of isolation and loneliness has fostered a deep despair in Noah, who also struggles with suicidal impulses. But Noah is a man who was struggling even before the end of the world, a seemingly helpless slave to his addictions. When the vindictive sister he has long believed dead unexpectedly returns, events transpire that prompt him to leave his mountain refuge and embark on a cross-country trek to find the lost love of his life. It doesn’t matter that she’s probably long dead. He just needs a purpose again and this is it. Along the way, he experiences moments of hope and profound tragedy. Soon Noah’s sanity begins to fray and his ability to distinguish between fantasy and reality starts to disintegrate. Through it all, he keeps trying to reach the one he lost long ago. And he’ll continue no matter what, even if it costs him his life, because it’s a big, empty world and this is all he has. "Sure, there are flesh-eating zombies in Bryan Smith’s gut-punch of a novel, SLOWLY WE ROT, but in telling the tale of one man’s nightmarish journey through a post-apocalyptic landscape, Smith reminds us of the most brutal truth of all: the worst monsters dwell inside us." – Tim Waggoner, author of LIKE DEATH and EAT THE NIGHT

17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. A different, wiser Bryan Smith novel By Scott Wilcox Slowly We Rot takes place in the zombie post-apocalypse, but it is not a zombie apocalypse novel. If you are looking for page after page of gut munching and head shots than you would be better off finding another book (don't worry, there are scores of books that are just what you are looking for). The zombie situation provides the backdrop for the story, which is one of loneliness, addiction, guilt, and despair.I admit I was surprised at first. Bryan Smith has a well earned reputation for literary mayhem, plus the novel takes its name from a classic death metal album (by Obituary), so I expected a gore soaked action fest. As the story developed and it became clear that this was something different I put my expectations aside and went along for the ride. The story of Nick's cross country journey across a dead continent is told at a slow pace but is never boring. Occasional flashbacks to pre-apocalypse times give insight in to the character and grant the reader insight in to why he reacts the way he does to things in the present. Subtle events in early stages are important later, so careful reading is recommended.I was a little disappointed at first that this wasn't the Bryan Smith novel I thought I was getting, but those feelings changed as I continued and now I think it is my favorite book from him. It takes courage to step away from what readers expect and I thank Mr. Smith for that and for this brilliant work with so much to say. 5 stars, highest recommendation.

Griffin SLOWLY WE ROT reminded me that the best zombie stories are about people, not the zombies and the grue and gore that goes along with the shambling masses. At its core, this is a harrowing tale about the depths of humanity and what's beyond it. Regardless of whether you like zombies or not, SLOWLY WE ROT re-solidifies the best of what the zombie genre has to offer.

10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. A Zombie Novel for Those Tired of Zombies By Nick Cato I'm beyond burned out on zombies, both in films and fiction. But when I heard Smith was writing a new zombie novel, I knew it'd be worth the wait. While SLOWLY WE ROT isn't as different as his 2006 novel DEATHBRINGER, ROT turned out to be an emotional roller coaster ride that countless "zombie authors" would be wise to take note of.It's about 7 years after the undead have claimed the world. Noah lives on the east coast of the United States in an isolated mountain cabin, spending his days reading pulp westerns and living off the land. He sees few zombies, but the ones that come around his property are easily dispatched. His quiet life changes when his thought-to-be-dead sister Aubrey shows up with an older, ex-marine named Nick. She's in a rage and forces him away from the house. Noah decides to trek west and look for a lost college love, whose California address and picture he kept saved. On his trip, Noah encounters a psycho survivalist, a small army and a sheltered community where things go in directions you'll never see coming, and although this novel focuses mainly on the humans, there's plenty of gory zombie action to satisfy the most hardcore of horror fans. There are a LOT of road trip zombie apocalypse novels, but few can touch the depths of SLOWLY WE ROT. Noah's battle with the undead pales to his pre and post apocalyptic struggle with alcohol, and I found myself cheering him on at every turn. Aubrey is also nicely fleshed out, as is Nick. These three characters won't be leaving my mind any time soon.Whether zombies are your thing or not, SLOWLY WE ROT is an acceptional novel and will easily be regarded as a classic of the subgenre. Don't miss it.

Irish immigrant Maggie Malone wants no part of the war. She'd rather let "the Americans" settle their differences-until her brothers join Missouri's Union Irish Brigade, and one of their names appears on a list of injured soldiers. Desperate for news, Maggie heads for Boonville, where the Federal army is camped. There she captures the attention of Sergeant John Coulter. When circumstances force Maggie to remain with the brigade, she discovers how capable she is of helping the men she comes to think of as "her boys." And while she doesn't see herself as someone a man would court, John Coulter is determined to convince her otherwise. As the mistress of her brother's Missouri plantation, Elizabeth Blair has learned to play her part as the perfect hostess-and not to question her brother Walker's business affairs. When Walker helps organize the Wildwood Guard for the Confederacy, and offers his plantation as the Center of Operations, Libbie must gracefully manage a house with officers in residence and soldiers camped on the lawn. As the war draws ever closer to her doorstep, she must also find a way to protect the people who depend on her. Despite being neighbors, Maggie and Libbie have led such different lives that they barely know one another-until war brings them together, and each woman discovers that both friendship and love can come from the unlikeliest of places.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A New Look at Women in the Civil War By Amazon Customer This is a very entertaining, fictional story about Maggie Malone. She and her brothers are Unionists living in Missouri at the start of the Civil War. Most of their neighbors were slave owners and supported the South but they were Irish who had just arrived in the country around 1848 and did not believe in slavery. Her two brothers were compelled to join the Irish Brigade forming in St Louis. Maggie and her uncle are left to take care of their farm. After a skirmish with the southern troops, she finds that her one brother has been injured. Since she has received no letters and was worried and their camp in just down the river, she sets off to find out their condition. While at their camp, the southern troops block her way back home and she stays with her brothers and their brigade, making herself useful by mending shirts, cooking, carrying water and even nursing during the battles. She proves herself brave and a true “Daughter of the Regiment”.This story was a very pleasurable read. The author does an excellent job tying all the characters together and the story flows. It compels you to keep reading. It also is written in such a way that a young reader from about 12 and older could also pick it up and enjoy. The story is completely fiction though. The Irish Brigade in the story and the Battle of Wildwood Grove are based on similar brigades and battles but they did not actually exist nor was that battle ever fought. The story is written for pure entertainment. Maggie was actually modeled after real life daughters of the regiment. During the Civil War they were actually called vivandieres or cantinieres but they performed the duties that Maggie performed in the book.I enjoyed this book very much. I do a lot of reading about the Civil War but had never read about daughters of the regiments. This story introduced one more fascinating aspect of the war that is not spoken about a lot. It has encouraged me to delve more into their history and it will do the same for you.

By embarnett Growing up outside of Lawrence, Ks I was well aware of Quantrill's raids and many aspects of "bloody Kansas" history but was unaware of this bit of Missouri history so close at hand. I love the historical stories of our country and this another good one. There is so much to learn from our ancestors struggles! Actually I have enjoyed all of this author's novels. I admire the talent of this gifted author.

After her brothers join Missouri's Union Irish Brigade, leaving her and her Uncle Paddy to run the farm on their own Maggie takes things into her own hands. A strong and strong-willed young woman, she braves the journey to find her brothers after her farm has been ransacked, livestock killed, animals stolen, and her Uncle Paddy badly beaten.Maggie is so well described in "Daughter of the Regiment," she comes alive in every detail. All of the characters throughout this book are portrayed in poignant and believable descriptives. The author's use of such strong characters brings the reader into the story, making the story tangible. I felt I walked alongside Maggie throughout whatever circumstances presented themselves.A wide variety of characters come to life in this moving depiction of the life and times of the Civil War. Strong, colorful, sensitive, each individual is developed with care. The landscape is pictorial and described with detail and clarity. Knowing only the more talked about locations where the Civil War was fought, the Missouri involvement was new to me. The author transports the reader from plantation life to the fields and ravages of war, and evokes emotions of the deepest kind.I became so engrossed in this novel that the hours flew by as I became a part Maggie's life, and the lives with whom she was involved. I will undoubtedly read this book again. It was a deeply moving portrayal of life at a time when no one knew who to trust or believe. I highly recommend "Daughter of the Regiment."Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from Hachette Book Group in exchange for my honest review. 14th-century Yorkshire, the time of Chaucer Father Peregrine is appointed Abbot of St. Alcuin’s Benedictine abbey. An arrogant, impatient man, a hawk trying hard to be a dove―his name in religion is “Columba”―he is respected, but not loved. A sudden, shocking act of violence changes everything. As the story unfolds, this community of monks, serious about their calling but as flawed and human as we are, come to love their ascetic but now vulnerable leader. They lived six centuries ago, but their struggles are our own: finding our niche; coping with failure; living with impossible people; and discovering that we are the impossible ones.

An inspirational look into what love was meant to be By A Customer This first book in Wilcock's stirring trilogy starts a little slow, but draws the reader into the world of relationships between the head Abbot and the other monks and brothers so well that you will grieve over Father Peregrine's losses, repent over his sins that mirror your own, and rejoice with his successes as he, through Christ, touches the lives of others for good. The transformation of this man, Father Peregrine, from a steely, articulate, impressive leader into a humbled, cripled, loving mentor will challenge you to examine your own life and how you affect the people around you. This book will probably be most appreciated by readers at least over twenty, maybe even thirty, who have lived long enough to see some of their own weaknesses in Father Peregrine, and can be inspired to change for the better. Very moving and inspirational.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Wise and Warm Tales By Bronwen Campbell Tells the tales and trials of a collection of monks who are just adorable! The stories are honest, humble as well as painful. I laughed at the characters who were ridiculous, unreasonable or senile, and trickled some tears for those wounded. Every corner of my being was warmed by the healing encounters the main characters received. In a sacred moments they were treasured by a brother who embraced them with a mother's heart. The creative wisdom and powerful love of Peregrine inspired me (reminded me of the one who inspired him). I'll savor these characters and devour the next two parts to the series. Scrumptious read!

My interest was piqued by the description, and my curiosity about the monastic life led me to pick up the book in the first place, but I found myself quickly drawn in and fascinated by both the stories set at the monastery and those that take place within the family telling these stories.Very rarely does life seem to go the exact way any of us expect it to, but we have to keep on marching forward and living this thing we call life. That is one of the biggest things I am taking away from this book. It doesn’t matter if we live in a monastery or in the modern world, problems and challenges find us all. What does matter is how we face these things, and whether it makes us bitter or better. I find this to be a tremendous encouragement in my own life.Another thing I enjoyed about this book is that it shows the power of words, both spoken to each other in the moment and those written for future generations. Empty words can be hurtful, even when they begin as simply thoughtless, while the honest and good point us on to something higher.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story. The sections are brief enough to squeeze into a busy day but they have enough meat to keep a reader thinking for a while, and it contains lots of grace-filled truth to both convict and encourage any believer in Christ.I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for this honest review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

I adore the civility of the era as well as the historical English setting. As it happens, I voted for Captain and Countess during its Kindle Scout run, so I received a complimentary copy from Amazon, not the author. The book delivers in spades. Excellent writing and editing. Lively dialogue. Good pacing. And OMG, blow your socks off sensuous love scenes! Granted, they're not as explicit as many contemporary erotica pieces but they were both over the top tasteful and well done. My hat is off to Alice Gaines. I loved every word and I'll definitely read whatever she write next. This is a fantastically fun story. You'll fall in love with Jason and Bess and many of the secondary characters as well. There are moments when you become frustrated with the main characters for being somewhat obtuse but it's all part of the fun and a good buildup. I'm thrilled to be able to recommend it.And a hat tip to the cover artist. What a lovely visual.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Sex is not the same as romance, and there is no real romance here. By Miss Eliza The characters are engaging, the plot amusing, and the writing is not bad, so I gave this two stars for those things. However, I don't like romances where the sex is supposed to convey all the romance. I don't object to sex scenes, just the fact that there was no romance except for the sex. Since the two lead characters hop into bed right away, I felt cheated of the build up-- the feelings of longing, uncertainty, and growing affection that should come along with and precede the sex. Without the romance, what you have is a predictable and unengaging read. Took me weeks to finish, while I would normally finish a romance in a day or two at most. I like regencies because they tend to have more of these emotional nuances-- except that there is a whole trend for authors to get sloppy and lazy and they seem to churn out sex scenes because they lack the skill to write about complex emotions. This book felt very much like the author was writing a formula that would sell. I guess sex does sell, but I want some ROMANCE in my romance novels

I'm difficult to please when it comes to historical fiction because it's so tough to capture use of language and tone without sounding contrived, but Ms. Gaines's prose is an effortless read, beautifully paced, and brimming with evocative detail of period and place. The novel departs from conventional offerings in this genre with characters that are fresh, multi-faceted, and richly layered. Bess is smart, generous, and irresistible; Jason, whose idiotic choices are central to the novel's drama, both seduces and infuriates the reader; and the tension and heat generated between the two protagonists is palpable. Witty dialogue and repartee and a cast of secondary characters add vibrant texture to the story. It makes perfect sense that Alice Gaines is an award-winning novelist--she writes well and shows an astute, timeless understanding of human nature.

She hates him. He loves her not. Men are weeds. Allison Hart doesn't need them in her carefully tended life, though her friends at Green Acres seem happy with their guys. Why can't Allison open her heart to anyone but her young nephew? Then again, he'll be a man one day, too. If only the irritating contractor in charge of building her home and farm school wasn't the boy's favorite person. Fireworks with Brent Callahan's newest client shift from antagonism to the rocky possibility of a relationship. When he comes face to face with a history he'd much rather forget, he realizes hiding his failures isn't the best option for finding forgiveness, let alone love. Can a little boy help weed out the past before it chokes their future together?

Brent couldn’t believe the gall of this woman. “No, you cannot work on the job site.” Allison’s chin came up. “And exactly why not? You obviously need help. I may not have all the experience you guys have, but I can make things easier for you. I can fetch and carry, and whatever you need done. Like an apprentice.” “I don’t think so, ma’am.” She leaned closer, her eyes flashing fire from mere inches away. “Don’t call me ma’am.” Brent’s grandmother had drilled that kind of respect into him when he was a kid. Allison Hart seemed to take it as a personal affront. Just went to prove not all women thought the same, as if he hadn’t had enough life lessons on that one already. But he couldn’t back down… or away. He was the foreman here, regardless of what she thought. “I beg your pardon.” Never mind that his tonal inflection was the exact opposite of begging. “Give me one good reason I can’t help.” He could give her thirty without coming up for air. “Steel-toed boots.” He should make her wear them anytime she put that hard hat on. “Okay. I’ll go put them on.” She turned. No way. She had a pair? He might need a few more of his thirty reasons. “No sweaters with holes in them that can get caught on pegs. No hoods on jackets for the same reason.” Allison glanced back at him with a shrug. “You think I only have one change of clothes?” He could be pardoned for thinking that. She only wore black, as near as he could tell. It all looked the same to him. She marched back and plunked her hands on her hips. Not that she had any. “Why don’t you say what’s really on your mind? You don’t want me here because I’m a woman and you don’t think I can do the job.” Two could play this game. “I don’t want you here because you’re a woman and you have no experience. I’d rather watch for falling hammers than watch for someone who’s bound to get injured in the first hour.” He leaned closer. “I don’t have the time or the patience to teach an apprentice.” “You have the time,” Allison shot back. “But I totally believe you don’t have the patience.”

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Delightful reading! By Robin E Mason This is my second happy venture into the delightful fictional world of Valerie Comer. While her stories incorporate some not-so-happy life circumstances and events, her telling of them is cozy and light.Ms. Comer has created a tightly knit world with very real and personable characters. As a romance series, the reader is acquainted with a new couple in each charming story. This reviewer has not – yet – read the first two in the series; I assure you, I will. I first met the couples in the third in the series, Sweetened with Honey, and felt as though among old friends reading Dandelions for Dinner. With this newest in the series, Allison Hart is new on the scene at Green Acres Farm, and set to teach classes as soon as her home and the school are completed. A lone wolf, Allison is faced with some big adjustments with communal living, and can’t wait for her house to be finished and her solitude restored. Construction is delayed, however, and the tension between her and the job site foreman escalates. With the construction delay, and then the arrival of her young nephew, Allison’s attention is focused on caring for the child. And with her attention of the child, her heart, long tucked away for safe keeping, is awakened and barriers long constructed begin to erode away.Once again, Ms. Comer has taken life circumstances and woven them into a credible story. I felt Allison’s angst and conflict as her heart was pulled from the safety of its cocoon. I felt the ache and longing for her nephew, and I felt her inability to reach out to him.I felt the shame of Brent Callahan’s past, too, and his sense of failure that haunted him. And I sensed his dread as that standard began to crumble underneath him.Ms. Comer has an enchanting and delicious style of writing, as if telling the story over a cup of coffee, er, dandelion tea. Her humor and craft with words shines on every page, and keeps the reader turning page after page. Her sensitivity to the life issues is not diminished, however, in her lighthearted manner. Indeed, the trauma is made more dramatic for the whimsical telling of it.Oh! I also learned that dandelions make for good eating!I was given a copy of this book in return for my honest review.#valeriecomer, #dandelionsfordinner, #farmfreshromance, #sweetenedwithhoney, #raspberriesandvinegar, #wildminttea, #plumupsidedown

Brookens I began reading Valerie Comer books last year when I read an interview about her passion to write on healthy eating/living and also incorporating a Christian perspective. Two of my favorite subjects! I read the first two Farm Fresh Romances in quick time; they were engaging and fun. I waited for the third book in the series and devoured that book quickly as well, so I knew the fourth book would be the same.Dandelions for Dinner continues the saga of the community on the farm with a twist of a newly added character from the third book. I have to say it took me all the way to the end to like this new girl, but I'm sure that was the point. Allison, the main character, has a lot of emotional issues to work through, and this story focuses on her need for a real, loving relationship with God. I LOVED this book, as I love all the reads of Valerie Comer. They are engaging all the way through, and thought provoking as well.I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Real people, real situations, great read By Sharon Lynch I've read and enjoyed the other three books in the Farm Fresh Romance series and I was looking forward to reading the fourth book. I was not disappointed, and ended up reading the book in about two days. I really appreciate how the author uses real people and real situations in her storylines. Allison is dealing with real issues, ones that most of us deal with (directly or indirectly) on a very regular basis. It is easy to identify with her struggles, and the situation with her nephew is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. These books aren't just fun reads, they are also great books to recommend to new Christians or to women who don't really understand just how life changing Christ's presence is. The books are never preachy, which in itself is a testament to the author's skill, but illustrate clearly what "the family of Christ" really is.
