Cattle Valley series:

Welcome to Cattle Valley. Population 2,823 Welcome to Cattle Valley, an alternative, private community where your sexual preference isn't an issue, it's the size of your heart that counts. The city of Cattle Valley was founded by millionaire Charles Beauregard on behalf of his only son and heir, Joshua Beauregard. The victim of a hate-crime, Joshua was murdered on April 13, 1972 in San Francisco, California. After the murder of his son, Charles began making plans to use his wealth and land to insure a safe haven for gays and their families to live in peace. Charles spent the remainder of his life working and seeing that his vision came to fruition. Now, twenty-three years after its dedication, Cattle Valley, Wyoming is a thriving small town. Drop by for a visit, and say hello to our sheriff, Ryan Blackfeather and his two partners, Nate Gills and Rio Adega. Or perhaps you'd rather have one of Kyle Brynn's famous cinnamon rolls at Brynn's Bakery. Whatever you're in the mood for, you'll find it here.

Journey to Lobster Cove by Carol Lynne

Book Thirty Two in the Cattle Valley series Spreading acceptance one town at a time. When the town of Cattle Valley runs out of room for new construction, Asa Montgomery begins to look into alternative locations. He discovers a picturesque fishing village in Maine for sale and begins to make plans to purchase Lobster Cove. Unfortunately, setting up a new community takes him away from his partner, Mario, who isn’t pleased about being left behind. Meanwhile, after years of dancing around their mutual attraction, Cullen Bryant decides the time has come to lay his feelings for Joseph Allenbrand on the line. Unfortunately, his plan is cut short when Joseph sends him away with no other explanation than he should move on. Joseph knows sending Cullen away is the kindest thing to do for the younger man, but when he hears Cullen truly may be moving on, he realizes it’s time to reevaluate his life. Will he work out his issues in time to save what he’s spent years denying? Carol Lynne

Journey to Lobster Cove by carol Lynne By Lena Grey “The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.” ~ Steve MaraboliCullen Bryant has been in love with Joseph Allenbrand for a long time. Cullen suffered through a lot for Joseph's safety, but he doesn't resent him for it. All he wants is for Joseph to let go of his guilt for not being able to protect Cullen and admit that, despite their age difference, his feelings for Cullen are just as strong as Cullen's are for him. Despite Cullen's best efforts, if anything, Joseph is pushing him even further away.Cullen has changed a lot since he was sent to Cattle Valley where he could be safe. Cullen has become a strong, confident young man who is respected and appreciated by other Cattle Valley residents. He's put the past behind him, but he can't put his feelings for Joseph aside. It was his choice to stay on the streets to protect Joseph from his pimp and he's never regretted it. When he has an opportunity to see Joseph again, Joseph practically ignores him and when Cullen confronts him about his feelings, Joseph shoots him down telling him to move on. Cullen has no alternative but to try to do so. Fortunately, he has a new project to keep him occupied. Due to his growing expertise at building and scheduling, Asa Montgomery has enlisted him to help build a new community similar to Cattle Valley in Lobster Cove, Maine. Cullen is awed by the opportunity and the faith Asa is putting in him and is determined to do the best job he can.Joseph is a mess. He loves Cullen, but doesn't think he deserves to be with him after all the years he let Cullen sacrifice himself to keep Joseph safe. He regrets not being able to save him sooner and can't get beyond that guilt. Joseph knows how Cullen feels about him, which is one of the main reasons he sent Cullen away to live in Cattle Valley. Joseph wanted him to be safe, but he also wanted him gone so Joseph didn't have to be tempted. Even though Joseph tells Cullen to move on, he is upset when Cullen goes out with someone else. When a crisis occurs at the Washington DC shelter, Joseph is forced to move his charges to the new community starting up in Lobster Cove, Maine. Joseph knows Cullen is there and he has some big decisions to make before it's too late and he loses Cullen forever.I have read and enjoyed all of the books in the Cattle Valley series, but I especially like the concept of Lobster Cove. It still boggles my mind that Asa can afford to buy an entire town! I'm looking forward to reading about its development and meeting the new characters which will surely be coming and, hopefully, visiting with some of the Cattle Valley folks as well. Thank you, Carol, for what promises to be a great new slant on the Cattle Valley series.Originally reviewed at Rainbow Book Reviews.

A great start to Lobster Cove By Kindle Customer I love Carol Lynne and all of her Cattle Valley and Campus Cravings stories (plus all her others) and this is no exception. Cullen has been in love with Joseph for a long time but he finally decides to give up his love for Joseph when Joseph tells him it will never happen. This is the story of how they overcome obstacles and find the love that they have for each other plus coming together to protect the kids in their lives from DC. Great story and can't wait to see who else or what else will be coming to Lobster Cove

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Journey to Lobster Cove By Christy Duke It was fun to see Asa creating a new Cattle Valley in the small town of Lobster Cove. It brings so many possibilities for future books.Cullen and Joseph's story finally got the HEA they've needed. I'm glad they're moving the shelter out of DC and up to Lobster Cove. They can, and will, still travel to bigger cities to find kids to rescue and bring back to the shelter. All in all, a good addition to the series and a nice way to branch it out.

Writing a doctoral dissertation is often viewed as an ordeal to tolerate and survive. This book looks at the dissertation in a different light, examining the dissertation project from several different perspectives with the aim of helping scholars understand the project better, work more effectively, and ultimately get the best of their dissertation. When you write your dissertation do you want to survive? Or do you want to thrive? Writing a dissertation requires a lot of time and effort and offers plenty of frustration, but it’s not mindless drudgery. It may be difficult, but it can be interesting and personally rewarding. If you approach it right, writing a dissertation can be a positive experience that helps you develop skills that will serve you well whether you are going to pursue an academic or professional career. If you approach it right, you may experience the same satisfaction of learning and discovery that the Ancient Greeks called the love (philia) of wisdom (sophia), giving us our modern word “philosophy.” Drawing on ideas from cognitive science, psychology, philosophy of science, and the study of design methods and processes, as well as the author’s experience working with dissertation writers and other scholars, this book presents a series of perspectives on the dissertation aimed at helping you work more efficiently and effectively, with a better sense of purpose, and with more satisfaction. Subjects include fitting the dissertation into the rest of your life, developing a good writing practice, dealing with professors, designing research, and more. If you work more effectively and with a greater sense of purpose, you'll be able to finish more quickly and have a greater sense of the value of your efforts.

It almost seemed as if it was rushed. There were so many misspelled words, and there were many instances where the grammar was not correct. I could go on and on about what I disliked about this book. The first two both had their share of misspellings and grammar problems but they both kept me intrigued, wanting more. When I finished this one, I actually asked myself if I really paid money for it. The potential was there but the author did not capitalize on it!!!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. It was okay By Eh The way it ended was just okay. I didn't like when the author had Nicole say, that since she was giving birth, and she had braids at the time. She mentioned she didn't have a perm, and she didn't want to look a " hot mess". Like being natural meant being a hot mess. I didn't like that. Nothing wrong with natural hair. We shouldn't feel like we should have to confirm to European style to be accepted. NATURAL IS GORGOUS!!! You as the author love yourself, love our people in all our beautiful naturalness!!!!!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Nothing Unexpected By Robin Perryman I knew I shouldn't have read it because part 2 was so good and ended so well. I didn't like it. It should have stopped with part 2. I wasn't feeling all the poetry and verses. That took away from the story which was very short. If anything, it could have been the epilogue in part 2. My recommendation is save your money because as far as I'm concerned the series ended in part 2. You won't miss much.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Light, humorous read By garfsgirl This is the second book in the Sisters of Mercy Flats series (a clean re-write of an earlier series by Lori Copeland). It can be read as a stand-alone since the series premise is well-summarized in this book. I would recommend reading the first book, Sisters of Mercy Flats, if you want to get more in-depth background about the McDougal sisters and read the scene in which the 3 sisters are separated. During an attack by Comanche warriors, Anne-Marie is rescued by a Crow warrior, Creed. All she wants to do is return to Mercy Flats to reunite with her sisters. However, Creed has to complete his mission involving a gold shipment before he can return Anne-Marie. I really liked the heroine even though she is quite a handful. She had a lot of spunk and the men had to rely on her to think of a way out of tricky situations. Creed was harder to understand because he didn't say much for the first half of the book. There were several humorous moments in the story, like when Anne-Marie thought she was going to die or whenever Creed's friend, Quincy, was around to banter with Anne-Marie. Some of the plans that Anne-Marie devised to get out of scrapes were a little far-fetched but moved the story along. The bumbling villains were stereotypical (the leader Cortes liked to talk about himself in the third-person) but provided comic relief. The romance between Anne-Marie and Creed was not very developed in the beginning since there did not seem to be much interaction but it ramped up in the second half of the book. Spiritually, Anne-Marie learned that God did not want her to live a life of deception even if it was for a good cause and she had to trust Him for her future. Overall, this was a light read that, although predictable, was still humorous and enjoyable.* I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Creed seemed very sullen and serious most of the time and he never really seemed to open up. AnneMarie was quite the opposite, but she felt kind of flighty. Most of the time I just didn't feel like the characters felt quite as developed as they could be to make this novel really shine.Storyline: The concept of this series of books is so fun! This particular story definitely had me intrigued. The characters definitely found themselves in one tough spot after another. With so much trouble, it made this book move along quite quickly. My Thoughts: There were times that I enjoyed the book, but there were definitely a couple of things I did not enjoy as much. The relationship between Creed and AnneMarie never really feels like it develops too much further than initial physical attraction. Second, the comments about faith and the times we see a character pray don't feel like they come through in the story quite as naturally as they normally should. The book definitely had it's good moments overall, and I did find some enjoyment within the pages. The way that these books are set up, I don't think they need to be read in any particular order. I understand that the first book has some opening scenes that are relevant to the following books in the series. I read this one without having read the first and I don't think it hindered my ability to enjoy the story.**I received a copy of this book from Harvest House and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.**

Having a Native American as the Hero is a uniquely different approach used sparingly in Christian fiction. My Heart Stood Still is a fast-paced story with major plot events occurring every few chapters––there's little time to catch your breath. Anne-Marie is a stubborn, I-can-do-everything heroine. Creed is a mysterious hero with secrets to hide. And Quincy, Creed's African-American best friend, is a sweet and humorous side-kick. These characters comprise an interesting team and it was fun following their wild quest to return Anne-Marie safely home while trying to deliver a cache of stolen gold to the American authorities.Although this story was a fun and light read, Anne-Marie could be annoying at times with her tendency to rebel and her I-can-do-everything attitude. I enjoy realistic stories with deep spiritual truths woven throughout and My Heart Stood Still depicted events that were, at times, unrealistic and silly. In addition, Cortes is a very cliche Hispanic villain. As an aside, because Anne-Marie and Creed were instructed by nuns and a catholic priest respectively, the spiritual themes have a slant towards Catholic doctrine.I did enjoy, however, the detailed and well-written prose. The setting came to life and I could easily picture the surroundings in my mind. The romantic thread kept me in the shadows until the end and Anne-Marie's decision to renounce deception––even if its use was for a good cause––constituted great progress in her spiritual journey. While My Heart Stood Still is not my favorite story, it is a fun, light read about a con-artist falling in love with a Native American and the challenges they face along the way––which just might be the kind of story you're looking for. I give My Heart Stood Still three out of five stars.
