Awesome story about relationships with dogs By Jan Niblock I just finished reading Say That Again and I finished it on a plane, which had the person next to me looking at me weird because tears were falling down my face. It is one of those stories that make you cry both tears of sorrow and of joy. It tells a story about 2 souls who struggle in this world and are still able to touch others. Hannah and Echo’s relationship is just one that you want to have. Having a heart dog is something that we all want and wishing that they would come back again and again. I am not going to give any spoilers because I really dislike that when I am reading a review to see if I want to read a book. If I were to give a spoiler, I would alert you first, but this book is a must read for anyone who ever had a heart dog or even a dog they love and a child with special needs.

I do have a few comments that are not actually criticisms, but clarifications for dog lover's who are considering reading the book. In my opinion, the best relationship with a dog occurs when the service the dog provides to its human is properly balanced with the service the human provides to the dog. This proper balance is not always equal, but this book leans a little too heavily toward the service provided by the dog. Sadly, the opening chapters accurately show how terribly skewed the human-dog relationship can become with people who are not dog-lovers at all. These chapters will be painful reading for true dog-lovers. The book does an excellent job attempting to reveal the mental processes of children with high- performing autism and in highlighting the wonderful support that dogs can provide to special needs children of all types as well as to the elderly. This relationship does not always work and depends on the specific individual, but it is always worth considering and trying. The book also does an excellent job of showing how difficult it can be for men who have much to offer special needs children, but must struggle to obtain the necessary degree of trust within our sick, flawed culture. Although again a comment and not a criticism, I could have done without the reincarnation philosophy taught in the book.

Not all dogs stay in heaven By Kindle Customer Anyone who has ever had a 4 legged best friend knows that if there's a way they will come back to continue to watch over youThat's what this book is about. It also helps you get an idea of what families go through when faced with a little understood "disability". Get this book. You won't regret it.

Well organized and filled with recipes for a wide variety of tastes, this book is good for cooks at any level. This book is simply beautiful. Filled with colorful and informative photos (there is a picture for every recipe), this book not only is great to look at but also gives good information for those of us who are competent but not particularly instinctive when it comes to cooking. I especially like the step by step photos so that I can get an idea of what the dish should look at while I am cooking it instead of just hoping it turns out like the finished product. This book is organized by type of meal. With categories such as comfort food, soup for dinner, salad for dinner, breakfast for dinner, the book gives the reader a sense of the different possibilities for meals. There is also several sections on different types of side dishes and even desserts so readers can mix and match main dishes with the sides and desserts they like to make a complete meal.I was especially pleased with the section on freezer meals. While basic and certainly not an attempt to be a treatise on the subject, this section gives readers the opportunity to prepare staples to keep frozen and then provides several different ways that those frozen staples can be used to make different meals. For example, the book provides a recipe for meatballs that can be frozen and then gives recipes for their use in sweet and sour meatballs, Swedish meatballs, etc. This section and the section on quick preparation meals are especially good for busy people who don't have hours to spend in the kitchen to prepare a dinner. This book also has a great variety of recipes. There are recipes that are basic (especially good for picky eaters), meat and potatoes type recipes and then also recipes for more adventurous eaters. I appreciated the variety of recipes because nothing annoys me more than cooking books that are only for gourmet eaters.Although titled Dinnertime, this book has such a great variety of recipes that they can be used all day long.

Some of us just like holding a book of lovely recipes in our hands By Pongo It's irritating when someone submits a negative review because a cookbook sets forth recipes that are on the author's blog. For those of us cooks who do NOT follow blogs (and there are many, MANY of us), this is disingenuous. Think about it: We watch these cooks prepare these meals on their programs and those recipes are also available online, as well as on their blogs. The purpose of the cookbook is tactile: Some of us just like holding a book of lovely recipes in our hands, flipping the pages and attaching sticky notes all over it.. Well, I've flipped the pages of this book and I give it five stars. It's probably her best book, and I have all the others. Anyway, I am off to prepare her Beef Stroganoff With Buttered Noodles. Scrumptious! Thanks, Ree, for another winner of a cookbook.

This one may be the best and ive only had time to thumb through it. But I already plan on buying another for a christmas gift. As some say, you may be able to find most of these recipes on her blog. I havent checked. But do I want to write down Ingredients and directions then take to kitchen to follow or do I want to open a cookbook on the counter and be able to see steps. I will choose having the book in front of me. Otherwise I have to have my computer on counter and risk getting it wet or messy. I can also open up a cookbook and tell by how stained the page is if we liked the recipe. I do have a folder of favorite printed out recipes. But I love reading cookbooks and Ree's make for some of the best reading. So I hope she continues putting out great book for those of us who love an actual cookbook. This one I would give more than five stars. So if you are looking for recipes that have normal ingredients, pictures of the final dish plus picutres of each step. If you want a little bit of story dished up along with the food, then this is the cookbook you want to get.

2015 Alex Award Recipient!

Maren Yearly is a young woman who wants the same things we all do. She wants to be someone people admire and respect. She wants to be loved. But her secret, shameful needs have forced her into exile. She hates herself for the bad thing she does, for what it's done to her family and her sense of identity; for how it dictates her place in the world and how people see her--how they judge her. She didn't choose to be this way.

Because Maren Yearly doesn't just break hearts, she devours them. Ever since her mother found Penny Wilson's eardrum in her mouth when Maren was just two years old, she knew life would never be normal for either of them. Love may come in many shapes and sizes, but for Maren, it always ends the same-with her hiding the evidence and her mother packing up the car.

But when her mother abandons her the day after her sixteenth birthday, Maren goes looking for the father she has never known, and finds much more than she bargained for along the way.

Faced with a world of fellow eaters, potential enemies, and the prospect of love, Maren realizes she isn't only looking for her father, she's looking for herself.

Camille DeAngelis' Bones & All is an astonishingly original coming-of-age tale that is at once a gorgeously written horror story as well as a mesmerizing meditation on female power and sexuality.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A horrific delight By J.Prather Bones & All is a strange little story that won't be for everyone. I thought it was an absolutely delightful combination of the sweet and the macabre. I am so glad I started this book on my day off because I couldn't put it down until I was done. Maren is certainly one of the most unique characters I have ever read, and in the hands of this gifted author, her story unfolds in such a seamless manner that when absolutely horrific things happen, they kind of take you by surprise, even when you know they are coming. This is so much more than a story about cannibalistic behavior. This is also a story about coming of age, and accepting who you are. It's about family and love, and finding your own way. Ultimately, it's an intriguing and beautifully horrific read that will certainly appeal to fans of literary horror. It's so nice when a book comes along that delivers a truly unique perspective that offers up surprises for even a jaded reader such as myself. Bones & All is an enthusiastic recommend for anyone looking for something different. This fast read delighted my inner ghoul and satisfied my literary side in a way that was totally unexpected.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Maren’s mother is a good one, I guess By AudioBook Reviewer Being a young adult horror novel, something that I have never listened to before, my interests were piqued immediately. I had high hopes for this story even though the reviews for the print version are widely mixed.Maren is an ordinary girl by every respect except one. When she loves someone she has an uncontrollable drive to eat them, yes as in consume them. This is something that she hides and thinks about quite often. She told her mother only out of necessity. Maren’s mother is a good one, I guess, in the sense that she just wants to protect her daughter from the fallout that would come from eating people. Being ready to move and the drop of a hat, having all of their belongings fit into one suitcase each.If you are standoffish about looking further in to Bones and All because it is a horror story, just know that the horror aspect and the gore that would come along with eating people is mostly implied and not described in detail. Most of the story follows Maren on a quest to figure out why she is like the way she is. And she just so happens to eat a few people along the way. She also finds others, including a lover, that are like her who join her on her quest for the truth.DeAngelis is an amazing writer. Creating a unique story that wraps around your imagination making the reader fill in all of the blank spots. Unfortunately, for me, my attention waned. This a drama story through and through, not action packed, in fact there was nothing particularly exciting or eventful at all. I wanted more. I never felt any connection with any of the characters.I think that some people with absolutely fall in love with the story. While others will be more like me.I found Julia Knippen’s performance here to be absolutely amazing. If you are not familiar with her voice, it sounds very young and fit in with DeAngelis young character set very well. Knippen even makes the male characters stand out from Maren and the other females. She did her best with what she had to work with to keep the listener engaged and my faults had nothing to due with her performance or the production quality of this book.Audiobook provided for review by the narrator. Please find this complete review and many others at my review blog[If this review helped, please press YES. Maren has a little problem. Whenever she gets that loving feeling, she wants to devour the person. Literally. She eats them. After hiding her daughter's "affliction" for sixteen years, Maren's mom abandons her. Alone and confused, Maren's sets out to find the father she's never met and the answers she's always wanted. Think classic coming of age story with a twisted protagonist. The epiphany, in particular, was rather surprising and a nice climax for the plot line. Maren's basic internal conflicts are mostly about a taboo, but on a larger scale, they are the conflicts that anyone who has been abandoned faces. I think that is what really is horrifying -- all the ways that someone so inhuman and distasteful still has strong vestiges of humanity that allow the average person to relate to her. Maren does horrifying things, but she does pedestrian things as well -- those neatly tied plastic bags are a haunting and an intensely vivid bit of imagery because they are so practical and normal. Who doesn't use those bags and tie them that way? This wasn't a terribly exciting or action packed book, but there was real tension anytime someone got close to Maren, and I found myself holding my breath until I knew if she would or would not resist. There were some flaws, especially with the subplot involving Sully, which I thought was the strangest part of all. I also was left with a mixed message. What I got from the ending and what I got from the author's notes were two different things -- I enjoyed it more without the author's commentary. I'm not sure who I would recommend this book to, but I would love to see what my students would do if asked to compare and contrast it with a classic Bildungsroman like Jane Eyre. The language and situations are appropriate for high school readers, but I think the strong taboo associated with cannibalism would raise objections from parents and administrators. This book isn't for everyone, but it certainly gave me a lot to think about.

It is only 19 pages and two of those pages are promotions for other ebooks. Of the 17 pages of information, the first 1/4 of the ebook only talks about how poor our current diet is. I cannot imagine that anyone researching health food is going to need to be informed that the Standard American Diet is of poor quality, so I feel this was unnecessary. All the information in this ebook is easily accessible through the internet. On a side note, I found two grammatical errors and the incorrect use of the word your. It should have been you're. These should have been caught easily with a simple proof read or two.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. must have for everyone By John Segrev Resistant Starch is a term that we hear about, but don’t know much about it. It seems that resistant starch is getting popular nowadays, with many people adding it to their diets for health benefits. This book achieves its aim pretty well in giving readers a better understanding of resistant starch as well as how you can incorporate them into your diet for health benefits.Resistant starch is a type of starch that is not digested in the stomach or small intestine and thus "resists" digestion reaching the colon intact. That is why there are not spikes in either blood glucose or insulin after eating resistant starch, and why we do not obtain significant calories from it. And that is only one of the reasons resistant starch is so good for weight loss. This is the first time that I have heard about Resistant Starch and what I read in this book has been truly helpful in my complete understanding. This resistant starch book is a must have for everyone, reading this book will give you a vast amount of knowledge on why starch food are very important to our body. Everything you want to know about resistant starch is in this book; Avery Richards did a terrific job on creating this book. This book is highly informative.

(Oxford dictionary)In the Symbiot, Weatherall has created a spine chilling tale reminiscent of the style of Steven King.Lorne S. Gibbons has a passion for music, but deep down he knows there must be something more than the eight note octave the tediously repeats itself. “Man learns to write sounds, music and rhythms on paper and…What? Calls it quits? (The Symbiot Page 4). In his quest to prove that there is more to music then we realize Lorne discovers the work of Erich Zann. Though Erich Zann is no longer living his Grand-daughter has continued his research and Lorne knows he must visit her.Lorne, his wife and his in-laws, Henri and Veronica travel to Oxford England to meet with Nadia De Lafontaine, the grand-daughter of Erich Zann. What happens next will chill you to the bone. While Lorne and his family are visiting, Nadia begins to play the music her Grand-father had discovered. It is nothing like you have ever heard before and will hope to never hear again. “We were riveted to our seats by the spectacle before us. The whistling kettle seemed to strangely accent her furiously screeching viola. I noticed her fingers bleeding. It was now hard to discern whether Nadia played the music or the music played Nadia. The four of us sat in horror as we witnessed Nadia’s symbiosis between human, instrument and music”. (The Symbiot, page 10)This never before heard music was kept a secret because it opened a portal of horror that caused Nadia to become merged with Nylarlathotep, a creature that has existed since before man was created. You will have to read more to find out what happens to Lorne, Marie, Henri, Veronica and Nadia. I promise you, that this story will leave you shivering in your seat. While I felt Weatherall’s writing was creative and descriptive there were times where the story fell flat and felt like the author lost her momentum. I have studied music and appreciate the analogy of the musical terms in relationship to the symbiosis storyline. However, I feel those who have no or limited knowledge of musical terms may find the beginning of this novel confusing. Overall I would rate the Symbiot a three out of five-star Novel. Weatherall has a bright future as acc writer. I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. IT FEELS LIKE HOME. AND THAT IS THE BEST PLACE TO COME BACK TO. By Redrabbitt This is book 2 of the Paths of Hope series. This story has so many emotions, from heartache, bitterness, betrayal, forgiveness, redemption, acceptance and respect. Caleb Troyer and Birdie Miller are married and have moved back to Twin Oaks where he has taken over the ferrier business of his father. They are expecting their first baby when tragedy strikes. Benjamin comes back home after being shunned and wishes to rejoin the Amish community and his parents are thrilled, but Caleb is bitter. Birdie must deal with the loss of a baby, a meddling mother in law, a brother in law she relates to and a bitter husband. Caleb feels pulled in so many directions, dealing with the loss of their baby, his family's acceptance as the prodigal son returns and trying to be the good, respectful son and keeping peace with Birdie. Caleb learns that Birdie is more than just a strong-willed woman, she is a strong, capable and good hearted woman who takes a risk and saves a life, even if it is doing something he was against. How many more storms will they face before it is sunny again? Benjamin and Emma realize they have feelings for each other and hopefully this will be the next story.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Closing the differences between two brothers By Linda Knott Caleb, the older and good Amish son and his wife have just lost a baby due to miscarriage. His mother used this opportunity to contact Benjamin, the next older son and "black sheep" who has been living on the outside. Benjamin had been looking for the courage to come home and used his mother's call to do it.As in the Bible story of the Prodigal Son, all the family and even community members were happy for his return. However, Caleb was not.Add to this tension, a mother-in-law who has never approved of Caleb' s wife, Birdie, and all sorts of fireworks go off.A very good story of how God can use the good and the bad to lead us the way he wants us to go....even though we may never have thought of that particular direction. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Review "Callaghan did it again!!!!!--If I could give this book a rating higher than five stars I definitely would do so. "Love thy enemies and pray for those who despitefully use thee" is dominant in this detective's work! I will definitely be watching for more of the Garden Girls Series to be published!"--Connie M Wright"Death by Dumplings--This is book four of the series. It was great. Being able to read books like these are so enjoyable. They have good morals, clean language and a fantastic story. I can't wait to see if another book in this series is coming. It is very well written. Solving crimes is what Gloria does best and her friends like helping her. A must read if you enjoy being on the edge of your seat." Eagles
