From the Author The Relic of the King is my sixth book and the first of The Crypt Trilogy. I've been fascinated for years by the things that lie beneath the streets of the oldest part of London - the "City." Anywhere you look you can see construction underway, and wherever they excavate they find things dating back to medieval times or even earlier, to the times of the Roman occupation before Jesus Christ was born. I enjoyed researching and writing this book very much. Many people believe King Arthur was real; there are stories of the discovery of his bones in Glastonbury Abbey. This novel poses questions about Arthur and his beautiful queen, Guinevere, who had trouble remaining faithful to her devoted king. I hope you'll enjoy reading it!

Creeps Fight Over Crypt in Downtown London By Bob Newman Ex-boy toy, assassin, bartender, polyglot, and high financier Slava Sergenko (aka Juan Carlos Sebastian and Roberto Maas) lives the high life thanks to a blackmail caper he pulled off back in Russia. But the victims are on his trail, he has to watch out. He's got plenty of dough and he likes spending it on rare, ancient treasures. At the same time, a bookshop owner in an old section of London stumbles upon a crypt in which he finds boxes of old books and a stone sarcophagus. Mum is the word; he only tells his wife and a crazy grandson who happens to be an expert on classical languages (he can even read Medieval Welsh) and British history. This dude, Edward by name, does away with his grandparents in order to be sole possessor of the secrets in the crypt, but Slava gets wind of the find. He (and Edward) believe it to be extremely momentous. The relics could be linked to the Arthurian legend, even proving that he really existed. Slava and Edward become rivals, duelling for possession and knowledge of the "relics of the king". Neither of them could be described as a Boy Scout. What happens? Well, you'll have to read the book, a fast-paced thriller, with plenty of twists, turns, and surprise events. We even go back to the late 5th century and meet Queen Guinevere, who turns out to be rather more (or less, according to your point of view) than the standard picture we had. Warning: this is the first volume of a trilogy, so you might get hooked.I admit---if you check my Amazon reviews, you will not find many thrillers or mysteries there. A couple books by Robert Parker, a couple by Harry Kemelman, that's about it. So I may not be the most expert of judges here. I met the author and volunteered to review the book. I enjoyed it and heartily recommend it to anyone who likes Bondian escapades and international hi-jinks, or who has a secret fascination for archaeology.

Chapters 2 through nine were repetitive, redundant, and mostly unnecessary. Having once made the point in chapter 2 the author continues to repeat and rephrase unnecessarily trivial details. Now that he's posited a second concept he seems to be doing the same thing again . So far this is not the story that I expected the plot that I anticipated or anything of interest to me specifically or generally . I'm gonna move on now to anyone of 10 other books that I've already lined up to read . I am leaving this warning to those of you who are as easily bored as I. if you enjoy reading interesting books go elsewhereTed

The author chose an interesting subject and one that should have resulted in a great story. It sometimes did, but somewhere along the way somebody obviously told him he needed to weave lots of sex into the book in order for it to sell. Fully the first 1/4 of the book is utterly irrelevant to the story. It's just sexual pandering to get it sold. Then along the way he weaves in sex. Don't get me wrong, I like a good sexy book, but this was NOT the story to put this in and it did absolutely nothing to make the story better. In the end, I didn't finish the book. THAT is something I rarely do.
